Redwire Corporation, a recognized leader in space infrastructure for the next-generation space economy, announced the opening of a new regional office in Warsaw, Poland, marking a significant expansion of the company’s operations in Europe. This strategic move aims to provide world-class space solutions to a global customer base, bolstering Redwire’s capabilities in critical areas such as spacecraft technology, microgravity research, and space infrastructure. The new office will serve as a hub for various activities, including specification and design, assembly, integration, and testing (AI&T), further solidifying Redwire’s commitment to advancing space exploration and supporting the growing European space industry.
A major focus of the Warsaw office will be the development of Redwire’s International Berthing and Docking Mechanism (IBDM), a key technology designed to enable autonomous spacecraft docking. The IBDM will play an essential role in the Gateway lunar space station, particularly in the docking of the International Habitat (I-Hab). This technology has the potential to be adapted for other elements of the Gateway, as well as for spacecraft operating in low Earth orbit (LEO) and future commercial space stations. The expansion into Poland allows Redwire to tap into a pool of local expertise and enhance its support for international space missions.
In addition to focusing on the IBDM, Redwire is forging partnerships with Polish universities, medical research institutions, and pharmaceutical companies. The company plans to leverage its advanced microgravity capabilities on the International Space Station (ISS) to collaborate on groundbreaking research that could have significant applications in medicine, pharmaceuticals, and materials science. This aligns with Redwire’s broader vision of contributing to scientific advancements that drive progress in both the space sector and other industries.
To lead the new office, Redwire has appointed Marcin Dobrowolski as General Manager of the Warsaw location. Dobrowolski, who brings over a decade of experience in the aerospace sector, is well-positioned to guide Redwire’s operations in Poland. He has an impressive background in mechanical engineering, space robotics, and project leadership, having previously held senior roles at PIAP Space and Thales Alenia Space. Dobrowolski’s extensive expertise in space engineering and his proven ability to manage high-profile space programs will be instrumental in driving Redwire’s continued success in Europe.

Redwire’s European operations have supported a variety of ESA missions, including Skimsat, an innovative technology demonstration mission that uses the company’s European-built Phantom spacecraft designed to operate in low Earth orbit. Additionally, Redwire’s IBDM technology is being utilized in the Gateway mission, and the company is involved in the Proba-3 mission, which will demonstrate precision formation flying and conduct groundbreaking studies of the Sun’s corona.
