Excitement Abounds at 2024 Ferrari Challenge North America Season Opener The roar of Ferrari engines filled the air at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) during the thrilling season-opening race of the 2024 Ferrari Challenge North America. With over 70 Ferrari racecars spanning the Trofeo Pirelli, Coppa Shell, and 488 Challenge Evo classes, the 3.426-mile circuit was alive with on-track action.
Trofeo Pirelli Race. The Trofeo Pirelli race witnessed a nail-biting last-lap showdown, with Dylan Medler (The Collection) and Brian Cook (Ferrari of Seattle) emerging victorious in their respective classes. Despite losing his lead to a late yellow flag, Medler reclaimed his position to clinch the overall victory, followed by Roberto Perrina (Ferrari Seattle) and Joe Rubbo (Ferrari of Long Island). A post-race penalty for Perrina shuffled the standings, propelling Rubbo to second and Dave Musial Jr. (Ferrari of Lake Forest) to third.
In the Trofeo Pirelli Am category, Cook secured a hard-fought win amidst intense competition, ultimately triumphing over Matias Perez Companc (Ferrari of Central Florida), who encountered trouble with another competitor but managed to secure third place.
Coppa Shell Race. The Coppa Shell race was marked by two red flags, injecting unpredictability into the competition. Sureel Choksi (Ferrari of Denver) emerged victorious after a battle with Yahn Bernier (Ferrari of Seattle), who led for much of the race before encountering misfortune. Eric Marston (Ferrari of Westlake) crossed the line in second but faced a post-race penalty, promoting Ray Acosta (The Collection) to second place and Chuck Whittall (Ferrari of Central Florida) to third.
In the Coppa Shell Am class, Talal Shair (Ferrari of Central New Jersey) claimed victory, flanked by Darren Bernstein (Ferrari of Washington) in second and Jeffrey Nunberg (Ferrari of Central New Jersey) in third.
488 Challenge Evo Race. The Race 1 for Ferrari 488 Challenge Evos saw Massimo Perrina (Ferrari of Seattle) dominate the field to secure the win. Jason McCarthy, who had competed earlier in Trofeo Pirelli, clinched second place, with Marc Muzzo (Ferrari of Ontario) rounding out the podium. Matt Dalton (Ferrari of Long Island) triumphed in the Coppa Shell class, followed by Gary Ott (Ferrari Philadelphia) and Guerdas Venslovas (Continental AutoSports).
