Textron Aviation’s dedication to sustainability has been reaffirmed with the renewal of its global service network’s certification as a Green Aviation Business by the National Air Transportation Association (NATA). This recognition underscores Textron Aviation’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship within the aviation industry. Beechcraft, Cessna, and Hawker customers benefit from factory-direct support, maintenance, and modifications provided by Textron Aviation Inc., a subsidiary of Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT), through its extensive network of service centers, mobile units, and round-the-clock 1CALL AOG support.
Among Textron Aviation’s 20 company-owned service centers, four—located in Singapore, Paris, Zurich, and Indianapolis—have not only recertified their Tier 1 status but have also exceeded NATA’s certification requirements by implementing additional sustainable practices. These include initiatives like phasing out single-use plastics, installing motion-sensor lighting, and adopting energy-efficient kitchen appliances and plumbing fixtures. Moreover, these centers have devised policies to minimize idling in ground support equipment. Notably, Textron Aviation’s Valencia Service Center achieved Tier 2 status for the first time this year.
Brian Rohloff, Senior Vice President of Customer Support, emphasized the company’s ongoing investment in processes and facilities to promote sustainability globally. This investment aligns with Textron Aviation’s recognition of the importance of fostering economic growth while preserving natural resources.
To attain base-level certification, all facilities must establish a baseline carbon footprint and work toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions. They are also required to implement recycling programs, transition to paperless systems, install LED lighting, and reduce the usage of plastic water bottles. Additionally, Textron Aviation is actively involved in supporting the development of sustainable propulsion solutions, such as hydrogen electric and hybrid electric technologies, and remains engaged in various sustainability initiatives within the aviation sector.
Textron Aviation’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its service centers. The company is aligned with the Business Aviation Commitment on Climate Change and has set ambitious enterprise-wide goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% and decrease energy consumption, water usage, and waste generation by 10% by 2025. Moreover, Textron Aviation has embraced renewable wind energy to fulfill the majority of its electricity needs in Kansas, showcasing its dedication to environmental responsibility.
Through substantial investments in its products and facilities, Textron Aviation continues to integrate sustainability into its designs and operations. Aircraft projects like the Beechcraft Denali and Cessna Citation Ascend exemplify the company’s efforts to minimize emissions and enhance efficiency. Customers are also provided with the option to receive their aircraft using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and can refuel with SAF at Textron Aviation’s service center in Wichita, Kansas, further demonstrating the company’s commitment to promoting environmentally friendly practices within the aviation industry.
