Tenaris is set to unveil THera™ Seal, its latest sealing innovation designed for high-pressure gaseous hydrogen storage, at the upcoming World Hydrogen 2024 Summit & Exhibition. The event will take place at the Rotterdam Ahoy complex in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from May 13 to 15.
Visitors to booth E70 can engage with Tenaris experts, who will offer insights into the THera™ portfolio, specifically focusing on materials technology tailored for hydrogen applications.
Drawing upon Tenaris’s expertise in metal-to-metal connections optimized for extreme weather conditions, THera™ Seal introduces a groundbreaking design that seamlessly integrates the vessel with the sealing system. This eliminates the necessity for additional elastomeric seals, O-rings, or gaskets to uphold pressure integrity. The solution ensures robustness and versatility, delivering exceptional gas sealability crucial for high-pressure hydrogen applications.
Maurizio Bellingardi, senior product manager of hydrogen technology industrial applications, will present THera™ Seal on the H2 Tech Innovation stage on May 14 at 10:30 a.m. He emphasized the benefits of the new sealing system, including simplified assembly, extended lifespan, compatibility with hydrogen, and suitability for fast decompression rates. The development process spanned over two years and involved collaboration across multiple teams within Tenaris, encompassing rigorous laboratory tests and on-field stress assessments.
