Pure Lithium Corporation appoints experienced battery specialist Dr. Tobias Glossmann from Mercedes-Benz as Chief Product Officer

Pure Lithium Corporation, a vertically integrated next-generation lithium-metal battery company and developer of patented Brine to Battery™ technology, today announced the appointment of Dr. Tobias Glossmann as Chief Product Officer. In this role, Dr. Glossmann will be responsible for product and technology strategy, lead the practical application of Pure Lithium’s battery research to technical products, and coordinate the company’s product development activities.

Dr. Glossmann joins Pure Lithium after a 25-year career at various Mercedes-Benz companies, most recently as Principal Systems Engineer at Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America. His work encompassed the development of advanced battery technology, from materials to complete battery systems, and he was responsible for high-voltage safety across the company. He began his career in 2001 developing battery systems at DaimlerChrysler in Ulm, Germany, and later in Michigan, where he gained more than two decades of experience in cell chemistry, thermal modeling, scientific computing, and battery system engineering.

Dr. Glossmann is a recognized expert in the field of lithium-metal batteries and co-founder of the annual Lithium Metal Battery Workshop, which brings together representatives from academia and industry to discuss and develop solutions to the technical challenges of commercializing lithium-metal batteries. He serves as an industry consultant for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Battery500 consortium, chairs the Detroit section of the Electrochemical Society, and is a member of advisory boards for the EV Center at the University of Michigan, the Center for Alkaline-Based Energy Solutions at Cornell University, and the College of Engineering at Stony Brook University. He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and holds several granted U.S. patents in the field of energy storage.

Dr. Glossmann holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Missouri–Columbia, an MS in Chemistry from Oakland University, and a BS/MS in Electronics and Mechatronics from Esslingen University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

“Tobias brings a rare combination of commercial experience, in-depth expertise in electrochemistry, practical competence in battery system engineering, and a genuine commitment to the scientific community. He understands what it takes to make a battery suitable for the most demanding applications, such as electric vehicles. His expertise in lithium-metal batteries, including the complex issues that are all too often overlooked in this field, makes him the perfect addition to our team,” said Emilie Bodoin, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Pure Lithium Corporation.

“I have spent my career scientifically and technically involved with advanced batteries, and I have long believed that lithium metal is one of the most important pioneering areas in energy storage. I am very excited to join Pure Lithium and bring this technology to market,” said Dr. Tobias Glossmann.
