PPG announced the completion of significant upgrades to its Yen Phong industrial coatings plant in Bắc Ninh province, Vietnam, increasing its production capacity. The enhancements feature a new production line dedicated to PPG AQUACRON™ waterborne decorative and functional coatings for consumer electronics, as well as advanced testing equipment and automated spray booths. With six production lines now in operation, the upgraded plant is designed to reduce turnaround times, speed up coatings development, and enhance access to PPG’s technical and customer support. This investment highlights PPG’s commitment to the region and to meeting the rising demand for sustainable products, especially from the growing number of multinational consumer electronics brands in Southeast Asia.
“As a trusted supplier to leading global consumer electronics OEMs, PPG offers next-generation solutions that not only improve the durability, design, and functionality of their products but also help industry partners reduce their carbon footprints with coatings that use minimal to no solvents,” said Irene Tasi, PPG Senior Vice President, Industrial Coatings.
In addition to PPG Aquacron coatings, the facility also manufactures PPG SPECTRACRON™ liquid coatings for transportation applications, PPG DURANAR™ coil and extrusion coatings for architectural and building products, and RAYCRON™ UV-curable coatings for electronic materials.
“This investment marks another significant step in our commitment to creating innovative, sustainable products that protect and enhance communities worldwide,” said Le Dong Lam, PPG General Manager, Southeast Asia, Industrial Coatings, and Country Manager for Vietnam.
Customers in the region can also benefit from the PPG SECURE LAUNCH EXCELLENCE™ program, which integrates new coating technologies and colors into customers’ production lines. This process ensures that new solutions meet exact customer specifications from the first application.
PPG’s focus on sustainable products is evident through its expanding portfolio of waterborne, powder, and energy-curable coatings. The company has set a goal to achieve 50% of its sales from sustainably advantaged products by 2030.
