These developments demonstrate PlusAI’s strategy of moving autonomous trucking technology beyond testing environments and toward commercial applications involving established truck manufacturers, logistics providers and transportation fleets.

Commercial Readiness Metrics Show Continued Progress

PlusAI has established three primary commercial readiness metrics to measure its progress toward deploying autonomous trucks commercially: Safety Case Readiness (SCR), Autonomous Miles Percentage (AMP), and Remote Assistance Free Trips (RAFT).

Through the first half of 2026, the company reported:

  • Safety Case Readiness: 93.4%
  • Autonomous Miles Percentage: 99.8%
  • Remote Assistance Free Trips: 85.2%

These figures represent progress compared with the second half of 2025, when PlusAI reported Safety Case Readiness of 90.1%, Autonomous Miles Percentage of 99.2% and Remote Assistance Free Trips of 79%.

The metrics provide insight into different aspects of autonomous trucking maturity. Safety Case Readiness tracks progress toward completing the engineering evidence required to demonstrate that the autonomous driving system can support safe commercial deployment.

Autonomous Miles Percentage measures the share of miles driven autonomously during commercial operations. The increase to 99.8% indicates that autonomous operation is accounting for nearly all of the miles covered in the company’s relevant commercial activities.

Remote Assistance Free Trips, meanwhile, measures the percentage of trips completed without intervention from a remote operator. The increase from 79% to 85.2% represents an important step toward greater operational independence and scalability.

PlusAI continues to target 100% Safety Case Readiness and more than 90% Remote Assistance Free Trips before commercial launch.

SuperDrive 6.0 Strengthens Autonomous Driving Capabilities

A major technology milestone during the first half of 2026 was the release of SuperDrive 6.0, the latest generation of PlusAI’s autonomous driving software.

The new version incorporates significant improvements in artificial intelligence capabilities and processing performance. It also introduces features designed to support more complex real-world driving environments, including night driving and construction zone handling.

These capabilities are particularly important for scaled driverless trucking operations because commercial freight transportation does not operate only during favorable weather or daylight conditions. Autonomous trucks must be capable of managing changing road conditions, temporary traffic patterns and construction areas while maintaining predictable and safe performance.

By expanding SuperDrive’s operating capabilities, PlusAI is working toward a system that can support continuous commercial freight operations rather than being limited to narrowly defined testing scenarios.

Expanded NVIDIA Collaboration

PlusAI also expanded its collaboration with NVIDIA, leveraging the company’s Alpamayo foundation model, DRIVE Hyperion and Halos safety technologies.

The partnership reflects the increasing importance of advanced AI computing, foundation models and safety architectures in autonomous vehicle development. As autonomous trucking systems become more sophisticated, the ability to process large volumes of sensor and environmental information while making reliable driving decisions is critical.

Integrating advanced AI and safety technologies into the autonomous driving development process can help PlusAI continue improving the capabilities of SuperDrive while supporting its long-term goal of commercial-scale deployment.

International Commercialization Expands

PlusAI has also accelerated its international commercialization strategy during 2026.

In Europe, the company announced the first autonomous trucks in Southern Europe through its collaboration with Sesé and the Government of Aragon in Spain. The initiative represents an important step toward introducing autonomous freight technology into European transportation markets.

PlusAI has also expanded partnerships and commercialization efforts in Europe and Japan, reflecting its broader strategy of working with established transportation and automotive organizations rather than attempting to build an autonomous trucking ecosystem independently.

The company believes collaboration with truck manufacturers, fleet operators, logistics companies, technology providers and other industry participants is essential for achieving commercial deployment.

ISO Certifications Support Commercial Deployment

Another milestone achieved during the first half of 2026 was PlusAI’s completion of four key ISO certifications.

International standards and certifications can play an important role in supporting the development and commercialization of safety-critical automotive technologies. For autonomous trucks, structured processes covering areas such as safety, quality and operational management can provide an important foundation for collaboration with vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators.

PlusAI said the certifications support its broader commercial deployment efforts as it continues preparing SuperDrive for factory-built autonomous trucks.

The company’s approach is centered on integrating its virtual driver software with vehicles manufactured by established original equipment manufacturers. This strategy is intended to support scalable deployment while leveraging existing automotive manufacturing and fleet infrastructure.

Building Toward Factory-Built Autonomous Trucks

David Liu, CEO and Co-Founder of PlusAI, said the company publishes its commercial readiness metrics every six months to provide a transparent view of its progress.

According to Liu, the operational improvements and commercial milestones achieved during the latest period demonstrate measurable progress toward deploying factory-built autonomous trucks at commercial scale.

Shawn Kerrigan, COO and Co-Founder of PlusAI, emphasized that commercializing autonomous trucks requires more than simply developing an advanced AI driving system.

The company must demonstrate that the system is safe, reliable and operationally efficient while working closely with original equipment manufacturers, fleet operators and ecosystem partners. Progress across the three commercial readiness metrics, combined with the company’s commercial milestones, is intended to demonstrate increasing maturity in both PlusAI’s technology and its commercialization strategy.

A Broader Autonomous Trucking Ecosystem

PlusAI’s commercial strategy builds on approximately a decade of AI development and focuses on deploying autonomous driving technology through established truck manufacturers and fleet operators.

The company is working with a broad group of global commercial vehicle makers and ecosystem partners, including TRATON GROUP’s Scania, MAN and International brands, Hyundai Motor Company, Iveco Group, NVIDIA, Ryder, Bosch, DSV and Goodyear.

Its technology portfolio includes SuperDrive and HyperFoundry™, solutions designed to accelerate the development and deployment of autonomous vehicles.

The company’s collaboration model is intended to bring together autonomous driving software, vehicle manufacturing capabilities, fleet operations, logistics expertise and supporting technologies to create a commercially viable autonomous trucking ecosystem.

Looking Toward 2027 Commercial Deployment

The latest commercial readiness update marks another step in PlusAI’s effort to transition autonomous trucking from development and testing toward large-scale commercial operations.

The company’s progress in safety validation, autonomous driving performance, remote-operation independence, international partnerships and industry certifications provides a foundation for its 2027 commercial ambitions.

With Safety Case Readiness now at 93.4% and Autonomous Miles Percentage at 99.8%, PlusAI is approaching key milestones in its commercialization roadmap. At the same time, the improvement in Remote Assistance Free Trips to 85.2% indicates continued progress toward reducing dependence on remote operators.
