Mercedes-Benz Unveils Four-Axle Zetros at Eurosatory

Mercedes-Benz to Launch Four-Axle Zetros 8×8 at Eurosatory

Starting in 2025, Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks will introduce the Zetros off-road truck with four axles and all-wheel drive (8×8) in two variants. These models will be part of an expanded lineup that includes configurations from two to four axles. The new Zetros 8×8, displayed at Eurosatory, stems from a major order from the Canadian Ministry of Defence for over 1500 Zetros vehicles. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz will showcase a Zetros with a protected cab, available directly from the Wörth plant. The entire high-terrain Zetros range, from 4×4 to 8×8, will be offered with or without a protected cab.

Key Features of the Zetros 8×8

  • Increased Payload and Body Space: The new 8×8 variant offers a payload of up to 25 tons and more body space due to its longer frame, meeting diverse tactical and logistical needs.
  • Powerful Engine: Equipped with an OM 460 in-line six-cylinder diesel engine, the Zetros offers 360 to 510 hp and a maximum torque of up to 2,300 Nm.
  • Off-Road Capability: Features include large slope and ramp angles, fordability, and engageable differential locks for enhanced traction and maneuverability.

Two Variants

  1. Variant One: Two steerable front axles and two rear axles.
  2. Variant Two: One steerable front axle and three rear axles, with the last axle steered for a reduced curve radius.

Both variants will be available as tractor units and carrier vehicles.

Protected Cab Option

Mercedes-Benz will begin production of the Zetros 8×8 with an optional protected cab, already available for the Zetros 6×6. This cab offers protection against ballistic fire and landmines and will be available across the Zetros series by 2025.
