Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 Powers Beer Deliveries to Germany’s Two Largest Folk Festivals, Showcasing the Future of Electric Trucking

Daimler Truck is highlighting the role of battery-electric vehicles in modern freight transportation with a special tour featuring the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, the company’s flagship electric truck for long-haul transport. The vehicle delivered beer to two of Germany’s largest folk festivals, Oktoberfest in Munich and the Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart, demonstrating how electric trucks can support the complex logistics behind major public events.

The tour also celebrates an important milestone in commercial vehicle history: 130 years of trucks. Through the anniversary campaign “130 Years of Forward,” Mercedes-Benz Trucks is connecting its historic contribution to freight transportation with the ongoing transformation toward electric mobility.

The journey through southern Germany brings together traditional festival culture, brewery logistics, and modern transportation technology. It also highlights the continuing importance of trucks in supplying goods, supporting businesses, and enabling large-scale events.

Celebrating 130 Years of Trucking History

The history of the truck began in 1896, when the first motorized truck introduced a new approach to transporting goods. Breweries were among the early customers of Gottlieb Daimler’s innovative vehicle, establishing a connection between commercial transportation and the delivery of beverages that continues today.

In its 130th anniversary year, Mercedes-Benz Trucks is revisiting this historic relationship through the eActros 600 festival tour. The campaign demonstrates how the transportation industry has evolved from its early motorized vehicles to advanced battery-electric trucks designed for demanding freight operations.

While the technology has changed significantly over more than a century, the fundamental purpose of trucks remains the same: moving essential goods efficiently and reliably. Beer deliveries to Oktoberfest and the Cannstatter Wasen provide a contemporary example of this enduring role.

The anniversary tour also illustrates how established transportation activities can be supported by new vehicle technologies without losing their connection to traditional industries and local communities.

Electric Truck Delivers Beer to Oktoberfest and Cannstatter Wasen

The eActros 600 began its special mission in Munich, where freight carrier Lettl used the battery-electric truck to deliver beer to one of the festival tents at Oktoberfest. Following its work in Munich, the vehicle continued to Stuttgart, where freight carrier Torwesten deployed it to supply beer to the Cannstatter Wasen.

Both festivals attract large numbers of visitors and require substantial quantities of supplies to operate successfully. Delivering beverages to festival tents is one part of a wider transportation effort involving breweries, logistics providers, vendors, and event organizers.

By using the eActros 600 for these deliveries, Daimler Truck demonstrated how battery-electric heavy-duty vehicles can undertake practical transport assignments associated with major events.

The involvement of Lettl and Torwesten also highlights the contribution of freight carriers in introducing electric trucks into everyday logistics. Transport operators play an important role in determining how new technologies can be integrated into existing delivery schedules, routes, and supply chains.

The tour therefore served two purposes: celebrating the history of trucking and demonstrating the capabilities of a modern electric truck in a real-world commercial setting.

Why Festivals Depend on Reliable Truck Transportation

Behind the celebrations at major folk festivals lies a complex network of logistical activities. Before visitors arrive, organizers and service providers must coordinate the transportation of food, beverages, equipment, technical infrastructure, and other essential supplies.

The work continues throughout the event, with deliveries required to maintain stocks and support daily operations. Once the festivities end, equipment must be removed, temporary facilities dismantled, and waste collected and transported.

These activities depend on careful planning, accurate scheduling, and reliable vehicles. Delays or interruptions in supply chains can affect the ability of vendors and service providers to meet demand.

Trucks are central to this process because they connect production facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, and event locations. Their contribution often remains largely invisible to visitors, who experience the finished event without seeing the transportation activities that make it possible.

The eActros 600 tour brings this essential role into focus. By delivering beer to two major German festivals, the vehicle illustrates how heavy-duty transport supports both commercial activity and cultural traditions.

At the same time, the mission shows that electric trucks can be deployed for established logistics tasks, helping transport operators explore alternatives to conventional diesel-powered vehicles.

A Distinctive Design Blends Tradition With Electric Mobility

For its appearances at Oktoberfest and the Cannstatter Wasen, the eActros 600 received a special exterior design inspired by traditional Bavarian clothing. The customized appearance combined elements of a dirndl and lederhosen, making the truck a visual attraction during its festival tour.

One side of the cab featured the appearance of embroidered lederhosen, including suspenders and decorative details. The opposite side incorporated the familiar elements of a dirndl, including an apron, a bow, and lace-inspired features.

Floral embroidery and traditional patterns completed the design, creating a visual connection between the vehicle and the cultural traditions associated with German folk festivals.

The styling reinforced the central theme of the anniversary campaign: connecting the history of transportation with the technologies shaping its future. While the truck’s appearance celebrated traditional clothing and festival culture, its battery-electric powertrain represented the continuing development of commercial vehicles.

The special design also helped draw attention to the vehicle’s practical role in transporting supplies, combining a promotional appearance with an operational delivery mission.

Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 Advances Long-Haul Electric Transport

Mercedes-Benz Trucks began series production of the eActros 600 at its Wörth plant in Germany toward the end of 2024. Since then, the truck has entered daily operations in numerous countries inside and outside Europe.

The model received the International Truck of the Year 2025 award from an organization comprising 24 commercial vehicle journalists from across Europe. The award recognizes developments considered significant for the commercial vehicle industry.

Among the factors highlighted in the recognition were the truck’s overall technological concept, its electric drive axle, and its use of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cell technology.

The eActros 600 is designed to bring battery-electric propulsion into demanding heavy-duty transport applications, including long-distance freight operations. Its high battery capacity and efficient electric drivetrain are intended to support practical operating ranges while maintaining the performance required for commercial transportation.

Battery Capacity and Driving Range

The eActros 600 features three battery packs, each with an energy capacity of 207 kilowatt-hours (kWh). Together, they provide an installed total battery capacity of 621 kWh, explaining the model’s 600 designation.

According to Mercedes-Benz Trucks, the vehicle can achieve a range of approximately 500 kilometers without intermediate charging. Under the most economical conditions, it can travel up to 560 kilometers with a gross combination weight of 40 tons and a conventional semitrailer.

Actual range depends on factors such as driving style, road conditions, weather, vehicle configuration, and the load being transported. The company’s stated figures are intended to reflect practical operating conditions rather than exclusively idealized test scenarios.

The battery packs use lithium iron phosphate technology, which is characterized by durability and a long service life. Mercedes-Benz Trucks states that more than 95% of the installed battery capacity can be used with this technology, supporting efficient utilization of the available energy.

The truck has been engineered to meet durability requirements comparable to those of a conventional heavy-duty Actros. The design target is up to 1.2 million kilometers of operation over ten years, with battery state of health expected to remain above 80% after that period.

The eActros 600 is technically designed for a gross combination mass of up to 44 tons. With a standard semitrailer, its payload is approximately 22 tons in the European Union, although national regulations may permit different payload limits in certain circumstances.

Future Charging Technology Supports Fleet Operations

Charging infrastructure remains an important consideration for the wider adoption of battery-electric heavy-duty trucks. The eActros 600 supports charging through the Combined Charging System (CCS), with additional charging capabilities planned for the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) standard.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks has announced that MCS functionality is expected to become available during the second half of 2027. With charging power of up to 1,000 kilowatts, the system is intended to enable charging times of less than 30 minutes under suitable conditions.

An additional MCS charging socket on the left-hand side of the vehicle can be ordered as an option. The technology is intended to help operators recharge vehicles during scheduled breaks and improve their suitability for demanding long-distance routes.

Actual charging times will depend on factors including charger capacity, battery temperature, state of charge, and the vehicle’s charging conditions.

Carrying Trucking History Into an Electric Future

Daimler Truck’s eActros 600 festival tour demonstrates how electric heavy-duty vehicles can participate in established commercial activities while supporting the industry’s transition toward new propulsion technologies.

From the beer deliveries handled by Lettl in Munich to Torwesten’s operations in Stuttgart, the journey connected two major folk festivals with a milestone in transportation history.

The campaign also highlighted the importance of freight logistics in supporting public events and local traditions. Although festival visitors may focus on the celebrations, the transportation systems operating behind the scenes remain essential to their success.

As Mercedes-Benz Trucks marks 130 years of trucking, the eActros 600 represents the company’s effort to carry that legacy into the future. By combining battery-electric technology, long-haul capabilities, and practical delivery operations, the vehicle illustrates how the commercial transportation sector is evolving while continuing to perform the fundamental task that has defined trucks since 1896: keeping goods moving.
