GE HealthCare’s MIM Software Partners with Elekta to Boost Radiation Therapy

GE HealthCare, fresh off its acquisition of MIM Software, a prominent provider of medical imaging analysis and AI solutions, proudly announces an expanded collaboration with Elekta (EKTA-B.ST), a leading figure in precision radiation oncology. Together, the aim is to hasten innovation in software solutions, enhancing workflows, throughput, and user experience for clinicians, while simultaneously refining treatment precision and reducing patient hospitalization time.

Radiation therapy (RT) plays a pivotal role in treating cancer, yet the journey from diagnosis to treatment can be protracted, often due to interoperability issues and manual processes, impacting patient outcomes. Moreover, advancements in therapy demand precise, multi-modality imaging, and advanced post-processing.

Andy Nelson, CEO of MIM Software at GE HealthCare, underscores the shared vision for impactful collaboration with Elekta. Their focus on understanding clinician needs has led to solutions streamlining clinical workflows and reducing treatment delays. The integration of GE HealthCare’s MIM Software portfolio with Elekta’s treatment planning software promises advanced oncology treatment planning globally.

Maurits Wolleswinkel, Elekta’s President Linac and Software Solutions, highlights the significance for radiation therapy clinics and patients, combining innovative dose planning capabilities with MIM Software’s physician-preferred tools. The collaboration aims for improved automation, adaptive therapy planning, and enhanced speed and accuracy, benefitting all radiation therapy providers.

This announcement builds upon GE HealthCare and Elekta’s existing collaboration, offering comprehensive imaging and treatment solutions for cancer patients needing radiation therapy. Ben Newton, GM Oncology at GE HealthCare, emphasizes the companies’ commitment to meeting customer needs through collaboration and technological innovation.

GE HealthCare’s suite of oncology solutions integrates cancer screening with precision image-guided therapy, leveraging AI-powered digital solutions for seamless patient care coordination from detection to assessment. Notably, GE HealthCare will showcase MIM Software solutions at upcoming global conferences, including ESTRO, ASCO, and SNMMI.
