Daikin Industries, Ltd. has been selected as one of the “Digital Transformation (DX) Stocks 2024” by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE). This recognition is given to companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange that have demonstrated a strong track record in digital transformation and enhancing corporate value. This marks the third time Daikin has received this honor, with previous selections in 2023.
As part of its strategic management plan “Fusion 25,” Daikin plans to invest 180 billion yen in digital technology over a three-year period starting in fiscal year 2023. The company aims to leverage this investment to advance both business and process innovation. A key component of this strategy is the Daikin Information and Communications Technology College, an in-house program dedicated to developing digital expertise among employees.
Key initiatives that contributed to Daikin’s selection include:
- DK-CONNECT: Since fiscal year 2021, Daikin has been offering DK-CONNECT in Japan, a cloud-based air conditioning management system tailored to meet the diverse needs of customers in operating, maintaining, and replacing commercial air conditioners. DK-CONNECT enhances comfort and reduces environmental impact by lowering energy consumption and easing the administrative burden on facility managers. In fiscal year 2023, Daikin expanded full-scale sales of DK-CONNECT to the United States, Europe, Asia, and other regions, aiming for further global reach.
- Wide-Area Energy Management: Daikin is developing services for wide-area energy management to ensure regional comfort and power stability. This initiative aims to reduce CO2 emissions and power costs by centrally managing air conditioning equipment across multiple buildings and facilities.
- Digital Human Resource Development: Established in 2017, the Daikin Information and Communications Technology College trains employees in IoT and AI skills, particularly those with a background in air conditioning technologies. The program is available to new hires and senior managers alike, with a goal to increase the number of digital human resources to 2,000 by the end of March 2026. Graduates of the program are actively contributing to digital transformation within their respective business divisions.
Through these efforts, Daikin is committed to promoting digital transformation internally and through external collaborations, fostering innovations that address environmental and social challenges.
