Capvidia Launches 2026 R1 Software to Advance MBD Readiness and Digital Thread Automation

Capvidia , a software provider for model-based definition (MBD), model-based enterprise (MBE), and CAD interoperability, today announced the release of Capvidia 2026 R1, the latest version in its software suite for manufacturers, OEMs, suppliers, and quality assurance organizations.

The result of over 5,600 hours of development, Capvidia 2026 R1 includes more than 400 new features, enhancements, customer-requested optimizations, and bug fixes across the entire Capvidia product line. This release helps manufacturers make their model-based workflows more practical, validated, and ready for automation.

Capvidia 2026 R1 introduces MBDReady Check functionality within MBDConnect for Creo , extends QIF-based weld analysis for Siemens NX, improves feature bill of materials and 2D annotation workflows in MBDVidia , enhances semantic recognition of machine-readable inspection data, and adds support for STEP AP242 Edition 3.

This version is part of Capvidia’s strategy focused on True MBD: model-based data that is not only human-readable, but also machine-readable, and ready to be used downstream in design, manufacturing, quality and supplier management workflows.

“Manufacturers don’t just need more 3D data. They need model-based data that is complete, validated, interoperable, and ready for downstream use,” says Tomasz Luniewski, Managing Director of Capvidia. “With version 2026 R1, Capvidia continues to help OEMs and suppliers strengthen their digital thread with MBD, QIF, and automation-ready workflows.”

For manufacturers adopting MBD and MBE, Capvidia 2026 R1 helps reduce validation loops, preserve technical intent, improve communication with suppliers, and transfer more product data to machine-readable workflows that support automation across design, manufacturing, and quality.

MBDReady Check pour Creo

Capvidia 2026 R1’s flagship feature is MBDReady Check, integrated with MBDConnect for Creo.

Previously, users creating annotations in Creo often had to export a model, open it in MBDVidia, run MBDReady Check, review the flagged annotations, return to Creo, correct the issues, re-export, and then repeat the process. With version 2026 R1, this validation cycle is shortened.

MBDReady Check is now accessible directly from the Creo plug-in. It can be used as a standalone option or integrated into the engineering checker, allowing teams to verify if models are machine-readable at an earlier stage of the creation process.

This workflow helps users identify flagged annotations, review references, and correct certain issues directly within Creo. This helps maintain the integrity of the digital thread, from design to downstream use.

For OEMs, this allows for stricter control of design intent and more reliable publication of MBD-ready data. For suppliers, it increases the certainty that the received models contain actionable, validated, and machine-readable information for quotation, planning, inspection, and reporting.

Weld analysis for Siemens NX

Capvidia 2026 R1 also extends weld analysis based on the QIF format for Siemens NX. Weld analysis data exported from NX can now be transferred via QIF and visualized in MBDVidia. Users can examine weld features, weld symbols, weld paths, weld vectors, and related information in a structured, model-based environment.

In MBDVidia, welds are grouped into dedicated tabs and displayed in the model’s tree view. Users can select welds, highlight surfaces to be welded, and view weld paths and vectors that indicate how the weld should be performed.

Information related to weld paths, including sampling points, is stored in QIF format, allowing data to be retained and reused beyond the original CAD environment. This provides manufacturing and quality teams with reusable weld data for planning, simulation, offline robot programming, and downstream automation.

Instead of welding requirements remaining confined to isolated drawings, notes or files, welding paths and associated information can now be part of a reusable, model-based dataset, facilitating collaboration between OEMs and their suppliers.

Improvements made to MBDVidia and the inspection workflow

Capvidia 2026 R1 enhances workflows related to feature bills of materials (BoCs) and 2D annotations in MBDVidia. Users can now define measurement result types as numeric or PASS/FAIL for BoC lines, group these lines by annotation, and filter BoC data by saved view, drawing area, feature name, annotation name, tolerance value, criticality, and measuring device.

These updates help quality teams and suppliers manage complex inspection requirements, recurring features, and deliverables related to first article inspection. This release also improves the readability of 2D balloons by allowing users to highlight specific balloons or lines within complex PMI annotations.

Capvidia 2026 R1 also strengthens the semantic interpretation of technical requirements, including the recognition of model-based requirements such as “individually”. This allows reference models and repeated features to be interpreted as distinct semantic features rather than as a single feature.

A new zone boundary verification feature in MBDReady Check helps users identify annotations referencing undefined zone boundaries on the model, improving machine readability before downstream publication.

Support for STEP AP242 Edition 3

Capvidia 2026 R1 adds support for the STEP AP242 Edition 3 standard in MBDVidia. Users can now read and write STEP AP242 Edition 3 files directly within MBDVidia. The STEP export process also gives users greater control over the STEP editing and application protocol during export.

Combined with support for QIF format, MBD validation, CAD connectivity, inspection data management and enterprise automation, support for STEP AP242 Edition 3 reinforces Capvidia’s standards-based approach to MBD and digital thread implementation.

With over 400 updates, Capvidia 2026 R1 reflects a continued investment in the practical adoption of MBD, customer-requested enhancements, and software quality. This release includes updates to MBDVidia, MBDConnect for Creo, MBDConnect for NX, FormatWorks, CompareVidia, Pundit CMM, license server tools, and enterprise server products.
