Balfour Beatty has announced the appointment of Jeff Sandeen as President of the company’s Carolinas operations and Emily Kay as the incoming President of California operations. Both Jeff and Emily will play key roles in providing strategic direction and operational oversight in their respective regions, furthering Balfour Beatty’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of clients and partners in rapidly growing markets. They will collaborate closely with local leadership teams to foster innovation, collaboration, and the adoption of best practices.
Effective immediately, Jeff Sandeen assumes the role of President in the Carolinas, where he will oversee operations in both North and South Carolina. With a decade of experience at Balfour Beatty, Jeff brings a wealth of knowledge to his new position, having previously served as Senior Vice President. In this role, he led teams through a diverse range of significant projects across the Carolinas, including the modernization of Forsyth County’s courthouse and the construction of the University of North Carolina-Wilmington’s Student Village.
Meanwhile, Emily Kay will succeed Brian Cahill as President of California operations, with Cahill set to retire at the end of 2024 after 31 years with Balfour Beatty. Emily, who has been with the company for a decade and boasts over 30 years of industry experience, will work in a transitional capacity until the end of the year before officially assuming her new role on January 1, 2025. In her previous role as Vice President of Operations in California, Emily led teams in delivering excellence across various projects, including county facilities and K-12 construction endeavors in Southern California.
