In an innovative collaboration, around 30 apprentices from Daimler Truck’s Mannheim location teamed up with the popular YouTubers “The Real Life Guys” to showcase their technical prowess in a unique project. Over just three weeks, they converted an old truck tipper into a mobile XXL bathtub. This fully functional pool, holding approximately 22 cubic meters of water, can accommodate over 20 people. Equipped with modern pool technology, a wood-burning stove with an instant water heater, comfortable seating, and a massive one-meter-diameter showerhead, the bathtub can be attached to a tractor unit and driven like a standard truck trailer.
The mobile bathtub was first filled with water on Friday, August 26, 2024, by the Daimler Truck plant fire department in Mannheim and was inaugurated with a pool party. It then traveled to Gräfenhainichen, near Leipzig, Germany, where it was featured at the “MACHER Festival” from August 22 to 25, 2024.
“The Real Life Guys” documented the project on their YouTube channel, and within a week, the video garnered over 1.6 million views.
Britta Beiling, Head of Vocational Training at Daimler Truck in Mannheim, stated, “By converting an old dump truck into a mobile XXL bathtub, our apprentices not only showcased their technical skills but also emphasized the diversity and innovation in our vocational training programs at Daimler Truck and Daimler Buses in Mannheim. Collaborating with influencers like ‘The Real Life Guys’ allows us to engage with today’s generation of applicants through social media. This project vividly illustrates what can be achieved with a passion for technology and an innovative mindset.”
