Hyundai INSTER: Stylish A-Segment EV with Top Range and Versatility

Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the all-electric INSTER at the 2024 Busan International Mobility Show. This new A-segment sub-compact EV stands out with its unique design, segment-leading driving range, and advanced technology.

The INSTER boasts a futuristic design with a spacious interior within a compact SUV frame. It features fast charging capabilities and offers up to 355 km of all-electric range, the best in its class. The INSTER combines eco-friendly flexibility with agile driving and seamless connectivity, making it efficient and practical for city use.

Inspired by the Korea-exclusive, petrol-powered CASPER introduced in 2021, the INSTER has a more extended body and wheelbase, providing additional interior space and a robust road presence. Positioned between traditional A-segment city cars and larger B-segment models, the INSTER offers maneuverability and practicality with its compact dimensions, making it ideal for urban environments.

The exterior features a bold SUV profile with flush surfaces, strong fenders, a high-tech bumper, and a distinctive skid plate. LED daytime running lights, pixel-graphic signals, and optional two-tone paint with a contrasting black roof enhance its visual appeal. Wheel options range from 15-inch steel with covers to 17-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the INSTER features a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with navigation, and a wireless charging dock integrated into a spacious center console. The pixel theme extends to the steering wheel, and customizable trim options allow for personal touches. The interior is versatile, with fold-flat seats, a front bench seat option, and a 50/50 split rear seat.

The INSTER offers a range of exterior colors, including Atlas White and Sienna Orange Metallic, with sustainable materials like recycled paint and PET from bottles.

Equipped with a 42 kWh battery as standard and an optional 49 kWh Long-Range battery, the INSTER delivers a segment-leading range of up to 355 km (WLTP) on a single charge. It features DC fast charging, reaching 10-80% in about 30 minutes, and includes an 11 kW on-board charger. V2L functionality allows users to power external devices, such as e-bikes and camping gear.

The INSTER comes packed with advanced technology, including a comprehensive ADAS package with features like Surround View Monitor, Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-spot View Monitor, and more. It also includes 64-color LED ambient lighting, a digital cluster, and Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch (NFC).

The INSTER will debut in Korea this summer, followed by releases in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. An additional variant, the INSTER CROSS, will be introduced later, featuring a rugged, outdoor-focused design. Full specifications will be announced closer to launch.
