The supply will be facilitated through Idemitsu Australia Pty. Ltd. (Idemitsu Australia), the Australian subsidiary of Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. (Idemitsu), which has been actively implementing initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable energy practices in the mining sector. This collaboration marks a significant step in integrating renewable energy and long-duration storage technology into conventional coal mining operations, supporting the broader Green Transformation (GX) objectives in Australia’s energy-intensive industries.

Idemitsu Australia has previously introduced a solar power generation facility at the Boggabri Coal Mine, reflecting its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and increasing the share of renewable energy within its operations. By integrating solar power, the company has already begun transitioning towards cleaner energy use, and the addition of a VRFB system represents the next phase in optimizing energy management at the site.
