Epiroc Updates Group Management and Business Areas

Epiroc Restructures Organizational Model with New Business Areas and Management Changes

Since its listing in June 2018, Epiroc has undergone substantial growth and transformation. The company has seen a remarkable 86% increase in revenues and expanded its footprint by acquiring more than 30 companies worldwide. As part of its continued evolution and in pursuit of a sharper strategic focus, Epiroc has announced a significant restructuring of its organizational framework. Effective September 1, 2025, the company will introduce two newly defined Business Areas aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, speeding up decision-making, and reinforcing customer focus.

The two new Business Areas are:

1. Equipment & Service

This Business Area will be headed by Jess Kindler, who will take on the role of Business Area President. Kindler brings over two decades of experience within the Epiroc Group, having contributed to profitable growth in both the equipment and service sectors across various global markets. His expertise lies in creating customer-centric solutions while driving performance improvements and long-term value.

Kindler, a U.S. citizen born in 1975, holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Most recently, he served as a Senior Consulting Advisor, where he focused on driving excellence and growth strategies for multinational organizations. As Business Area President, Kindler will be based in the United States.

2. Tools & Attachments

The second Business Area will be led by José Manuel Sánchez, who has dedicated his entire professional career to Epiroc. Known for his collaborative leadership and deep technical knowledge, Sánchez has consistently delivered strong financial and operational results. Most recently, he held the position of Division President for Epiroc’s Surface Division, where he played a pivotal role in advancing the company’s surface drilling and exploration business.

Sánchez, a Spanish national born in 1963, holds a Master of Science in Mining from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and a Master’s in Marketing and Sales Management from Cerem International Business School. He will also be based in the United States as he takes on his new role as Business Area President.

Streamlining the Leadership Structure

As part of this organizational shift, Epiroc’s eight operational divisions—each specialized and integrated—will retain their operational responsibilities. However, the reporting structure will be realigned: from September 1, 2025, Division Presidents will report directly to their respective Business Area Presidents rather than to the Group CEO. This move will reduce the number of positions in the Epiroc Group Management team from 13 to six, streamlining leadership and increasing accountability at the Business Area level.

Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO, emphasized the strategic intent behind the changes:

“This reporting structure will in the coming years support our high ambition of outperformance, with 8% annual revenue growth and market-leading profitability, as it will make us both faster and more effective in an ever-changing world.”

She added that this transformation is centered around delivering improved value to customers.

“The increased focus will mainly benefit our customers, as we can be even more precise and reliable when it comes to delivering our productivity-enhancing products and solutions,” said Hedblom. “With these two appreciated leaders with strong track records onboard as Business Area Presidents, we will accelerate the transformation further.”

Epiroc’s move to consolidate its organization under two clearly defined Business Areas marks a new chapter in its corporate evolution. With proven leadership at the helm and a streamlined management approach, the company aims to reinforce its position as a global productivity partner for the mining and infrastructure industries.
