XPENG Rolls Out Global OTA 5.8.0 Update for Enhanced User Experience

XPENG Rolls Out Global XOS 5.8.0 OTA Update, Elevating Driving and In-Car Experiences Worldwide

XPENG Motors , a leading Chinese smart electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced the global rollout of its latest over-the-air (OTA) software upgrade—XOS 5.8.0—beginning August 25. This update is positioned as more than just a routine refresh; it represents a comprehensive leap forward in enhancing both intelligent driving systems and smart cabin functionalities, while staying true to the company’s user-first philosophy.

A Milestone in XPENG’s OTA Journey

The release of XOS 5.8.0 marks the third major OTA upgrade of 2025, following the successful deployment of versions 5.4.5 in January and 5.6.0 in May. Each of these updates has steadily advanced XPENG’s reputation for safety, personalization, and next-generation driving assistance.

With this update, XPENG highlights its ongoing commitment to combining cutting-edge technology with real-world user needs. By listening carefully to feedback from its global community and responding swiftly to evolving market expectations, the company underscores its position as one of the most innovative forces in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

The latest upgrade shows XPENG’s determination to go beyond incremental improvements. Instead, it delivers features that elevate daily driving and ownership experiences, ensuring every journey feels more intuitive, safe, and enjoyable.

Intelligent Driving Redefined: Human-Machine Co-Driving

One of the standout features of XOS 5.8.0 is the new Human-Machine Co-Driving system, a first-of-its-kind functionality offered by any automaker in Europe.

Previously, lane-keeping systems tended to disengage when drivers applied steering input, leading to disruptions in control. Now, with the upgraded Lane Centering Control (LCC), the system remains active even when the driver makes adjustments. This creates a more natural and cooperative driving experience, as vehicle and driver share responsibilities seamlessly.

The upgrade also optimizes LCC performance in complex road scenarios, including highway merges, exits, and curves, while significantly reducing steering oscillations. Alongside this, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) has been fine-tuned to handle higher cornering speeds and smoother deceleration, ensuring enhanced comfort for both driver and passengers.

Together, these improvements bring XPENG closer to achieving a true co-pilot experience, balancing safety with driving pleasure.

Introducing Pet Mode: Comfort and Safety for Furry Companions

Another highly anticipated addition is Pet Mode, designed for families who travel with animals. When activated, the vehicle automatically locks its doors, closes windows, and maintains optimal cabin conditions through the climate control system.

The system draws in fresh air via AUTO Climate Control with external circulation, ensuring pets remain comfortable without the risk of overheating or excessive cooling. Owners also receive real-time notifications through the XPENG mobile app and can remotely monitor or adjust conditions.

This thoughtful feature responds to growing demand from users who wanted a safe way to leave pets in the car briefly, combining peace of mind with practicality.

Hands-Free Entertainment: KaraFun Karaoke

XOS 5.8.0 also expands in-car entertainment with the introduction of KaraFun, a hands-free karaoke application accessible directly through XPENG’s in-car app store. Passengers can enjoy an engaging, interactive experience without the need for external devices, further highlighting the brand’s push toward making its smart cabins fun, social, and connected spaces.

Tailored Comfort and Smarter Personalization

XPENG continues to emphasize localization and customization in its upgrades. Responding to requests from customers in warmer regions, the new OTA update lowers the air conditioning’s minimum temperature to 16°C, ensuring greater comfort in tropical climates.

For safety-conscious users, the Dashcam feature has now been expanded across more European countries, with the addition of Emergency Recording, giving drivers an extra layer of security.

Additionally, the upgraded XCOMBO platform now supports 21 languages and offers more than 700 atomic capabilities, enabling users to build highly personalized driving and cabin experiences. From the in-car display or mobile app, owners can create, edit, and automate unique scenarios—ranging from energy-saving and entertainment to safety and comfort—with just a single tap.

Official preset modes are also included, giving users quick access to curated experiences optimized for different needs, whether it’s a long road trip, daily commute, or relaxing break.

A Step Toward the Future of Mobility

By introducing this global OTA update, XPENG reinforces its mission to make mobility smarter, safer, and more enjoyable for users worldwide. The company stresses that its innovations are not developed in isolation but shaped by the diverse needs of its growing global customer base.

“Every update reflects our commitment to listening, learning, and delivering,” XPENG emphasized in its announcement. “With XOS 5.8.0, we are creating a mobility space that is more intelligent, convenient, and personalized than ever before.”

As XPENG continues its global expansion, the company positions itself not only as a leader in electric mobility but also as a pioneer in human-centric smart vehicle ecosystems. The rollout of XOS 5.8.0 represents another milestone in its journey toward building the next generation of automotive experiences—ones that adapt to the individual, integrate seamlessly into daily life, and redefine what drivers and passengers expect from their vehicles.
