Wipro Limited, a prominent technology services and consulting company listed on NYSE (WIT), BSE (507685), and NSE (WIPRO), has announced the appointment of Vinay Firake as the Chief Executive Officer for the APMEA (Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa) Strategic Market Unit (SMU), effective immediately. With 26 years of experience at Wipro, Vinay brings extensive leadership expertise, having served in various capacities within the organization.
In his most recent role as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Wipro-Nordics Business Unit in Stockholm, Vinay oversaw operations across diverse industries and services. His previous responsibilities included leading the Manufacturing & Automotive Business Unit in Europe, along with holding key positions spanning Europe and North America.
Srini Pallia, CEO and Managing Director of Wipro Limited, expressed confidence in Vinay’s appointment, citing his successful track record and global leadership experience. Pallia praised Vinay’s contributions to the Nordics Business Unit and highlighted his ability to secure significant client partnerships.
Vinay Firake expressed gratitude for the opportunity and emphasized his commitment to leveraging Wipro’s strengths to further enhance its presence in the APMEA region. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration specializing in Finance, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, and has completed executive programs from Wharton School and Harvard Business School.
Vinay succeeds Anis Chenchah, who is transitioning out of the organization to pursue other opportunities. Anis will continue to support the transition process until May 31, 2024. Vinay will be based in Dubai as he assumes his new role.
