Foxconn’s FIT Expands EV Charging Footprint in MENA with SASO-Certified Royal Series AC Charger
Foxconn Interconnect Technology (FIT), a key subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (commonly known as Foxconn), continues to deepen its strategic push into the Middle East’s electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure sector. With momentum building around its innovative Voltaira brand, FIT has now unveiled another major milestone in the region: the SASO certification of its Royal Series AC Charger — a move that significantly strengthens its presence and credibility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
The SASO (Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization) certification is a critical benchmark in Saudi Arabia, ensuring that imported technologies meet stringent national safety and performance requirements. For Voltaira, FIT’s global e-mobility brand, this certification not only underscores its dedication to regulatory compliance but also reinforces its reputation as a provider of premium EV charging solutions purpose-built for the unique demands of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.
Continued Momentum Following Strategic Investments
The Royal Series certification follows a sequence of well-orchestrated developments by FIT in the region. Earlier in May, FIT announced the formation of a joint venture, Smart Mobility, headquartered in Riyadh. This venture is central to FIT’s regional operations and is designed to facilitate local deployment, operational support, and customer engagement for its e-mobility solutions.
Smart Mobility’s product debut included the Voltaira Anoles Series AC Charger, recognized with an iF Design Award, and the Voltaira SE DC Charger, a high-capacity solution catering to rapid charging demands. Both products were tested and deployed successfully in Saudi Arabia and have likewise earned SASO certification, cementing FIT’s compliance-led approach to market entry.
The Anoles Series AC Charger quickly attracted attention, garnering significant early orders — a clear sign that FIT’s product aligns well with regional market expectations. Meanwhile, the SE DC Charger has been invited for integration at several high-profile government installations, highlighting its capabilities and alignment with institutional standards.
Additionally, FIT has initiated trial operations of its Charging Point Management System (CPMS) — a software layer that complements its hardware products by offering digital monitoring, control, and analytics. This system is a crucial step in FIT’s strategy to deliver not just standalone chargers but holistic, smart e-mobility ecosystems that address both consumer and infrastructural needs in the MENA region.
Royal Series: A Blend of Performance and Prestige
The newly SASO-certified Royal Series AC Charger stands out as a symbol of design innovation and performance tailored specifically for the Middle Eastern market. With bold geometric contours, a sophisticated black-and-gold finish, and a signature golden cable hook that elegantly manages its 7-meter cable, the Royal Series merges function with refined aesthetics.
Available in 7 kW, 11 kW, and 22 kW variants, this series extends Voltaira’s robust lineup of EV chargers, addressing diverse charging scenarios — from home and office installations to public and commercial applications. The design takes into account regional environmental factors, cultural preferences, and user-centric features — making it both a technical and stylistic fit for the market.
FIT’s design team, celebrated for multiple accolades including iF Design Awards and Red Dot Awards, continues to drive the company’s premium branding through hardware that meets global standards of performance, beauty, and usability.
Localization as a Long-Term Strategy
Beyond product excellence, FIT is now looking to deepen its roots in Saudi Arabia through local manufacturing initiatives. A key component of its localization strategy includes the development of a Smart Mobility production facility within the Kingdom. This facility is intended to contribute to the Saudi Made initiative, which is part of the broader Vision 2030 framework aimed at economic diversification and industrial innovation.
Local manufacturing will allow FIT and Voltaira to accelerate time-to-market for new products, better tailor offerings to regional demand, and enhance economic participation through job creation and technology transfer. It also reflects FIT’s enduring commitment to building resilient, localized value chains across the EV sector.
Regional Leadership in EV Infrastructure
Waheed Khairy, Chief Sales Officer at Smart Mobility, emphasized the strategic significance of the Royal Series launch. “The Royal Series is more than a product launch; it’s a validation of our MENA-specific design strategy and a signal of FIT’s long-term intent in the region,” Khairy noted. “With our SASO-certified portfolio and plans for local manufacturing underway, we’re positioning Smart Mobility as a key contributor to Saudi Arabia’s EV charging ecosystem.”
With global EV adoption on the rise and the MENA region increasingly focused on clean mobility solutions, Voltaira’s expanding product lineup — now featuring multiple SASO-certified chargers — positions FIT as a serious player in the region’s evolving energy and transportation landscape.
From compliance and design to smart systems and local production, FIT is delivering on every front — not just selling products, but offering solutions aligned with Saudi Arabia’s long-term sustainability and mobility goals. The Royal Series AC Charger is a clear symbol of this commitment, bridging innovation and cultural relevance with the technical rigor that the future of mobility demands.
