TRU Simulation Delivers First Multi-Engine Training Device, Secures More Orders

TRU Simulation + Training Inc. has announced the successful acceptance of the first of three Unit Training Device (UTD) simulators under the Multi-Engine Training System (METS) Ground-Based Training System (GBTS) contract. This milestone was achieved in collaboration with the Naval Air Warfare Center – Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD). Additionally, a recent contract modification exercised options from the original agreement, including upgrades to two UTDs, the delivery of four additional Operational Flight Trainers (OFTs), and an extension of various support services.

As an affiliate of Textron Aviation Inc., TRU Simulation is a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company that specializes in designing, manufacturing, and delivering high-fidelity training devices and full-motion simulators for both civil and defense markets.

“At TRU, we are proud to support the METS GBTS mission in providing an intermediate and advanced training platform for U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard aviators,” said Jerry Messaris, vice president and general manager of TRU Simulation. “Our on-time delivery of the first UTD underscores TRU’s dedication to delivering innovative and reliable solutions that meet our customers’ evolving needs. We look forward to continuing our legacy of building high-fidelity training devices that support critical missions.”

In November 2024, TRU received a Letter of Equivalency from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), qualifying the UTD as a Level 7 Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD). Additionally, TRU achieved on-time delivery and acceptance of 21 Desktop Avionics Trainers (DATs) for the METS program.

The original contract included three UTD simulators configured for King Air 260 fixed-wing flight training, one OFT simulator in the METS T-54A configuration for high-fidelity dynamic flight training, one Simulator Support Station (SSS) in the METS T-54A configuration to maintain software for the deployed devices, and 21 Desktop Trainers for classroom avionics training. TRU is also responsible for providing device instructor and maintenance training, spare parts, and Contractor Logistics Services (CLS) to support these devices in Corpus Christi, Texas. Awarded through a full and open competition, contract deliveries will continue through 2026.
