Tata Group and Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), a global leader in semiconductors, have announced a strategic alliance to explore manufacturing opportunities in India’s semiconductor industry. Tata Electronics, Tata Motors, and Tejas Networks signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ADI to enhance business cooperation and explore potential collaborations in semiconductor manufacturing.
The partnership aims to leverage ADI’s advanced semiconductor products for Tata’s applications, such as electric vehicles and network infrastructure, while aligning strategic roadmaps to foster long-term collaboration. The alliance is expected to boost India’s growing electronics manufacturing sector, benefiting both domestic and global markets.
N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, emphasized Tata’s commitment to developing a robust semiconductor ecosystem in India. He expressed excitement about partnering with ADI across the value chain to design and offer advanced products. ADI CEO Vincent Roche echoed this sentiment, highlighting the shared vision of innovation and sustainable growth that would accelerate the development of cutting-edge technologies, from electric vehicles to next-generation network infrastructure.
Tata Electronics is already investing $11 billion in building India’s first semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat, and an additional $3 billion in a facility in Assam for semiconductor assembly and testing. As part of this alliance, Tata and ADI will explore opportunities to manufacture ADI’s products in Tata’s Gujarat fab and Assam facility.
Tata Motors and ADI will also collaborate on electronic hardware components for energy storage and power electronics in vehicles, while Tejas Networks and ADI will work together on network infrastructure hardware. This strategic partnership marks a significant step towards strengthening India’s semiconductor and electronics manufacturing capabilities.
