Sungrow Strengthens Regional Commitment at 2025 Southeast Asia Distribution Summit

Sungrow, a globally renowned provider of photovoltaic (PV) inverters and energy storage systems, successfully concluded its 2025 Southeast Asia Distribution Summit, held from July 17 to 19 on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam. The high-profile summit brought together more than 100 key stakeholders, including regional distribution partners, service providers, energy experts, and media personnel. The goal was to deepen regional collaboration, discuss future strategies, and navigate the fast-evolving renewable energy landscape across Southeast Asia.

Themed “Robust Power, Robust Future,” the three-day summit highlighted Sungrow’s unwavering commitment to sustainable energy development and localization in the Southeast Asian market. By showcasing its comprehensive product portfolio, tailored regional strategies, and strong support systems, Sungrow reinforced its role as a key enabler in the region’s green energy transition.

New Launch: Residential Energy Storage Solution for the Southeast Asian Market

A major highlight of the summit was the launch of Sungrow’s MG5/6/8/10RL Residential Energy Storage System (ESS), designed to empower homeowners in Southeast Asia amid growing urbanization, rising electricity prices, and the need for energy self-reliance. This new lineup, also featuring the MGL060 battery module, offers flexible power capacity from 5 kW to 10 kW per unit, giving households the ability to tailor their energy independence according to usage needs.

The system stands out for its ability to maintain full performance even in high ambient temperatures up to 45°C, active Potential Induced Degradation (PID) recovery, and its fast 4-millisecond switch-over capability to backup mode—ensuring continued operation during grid outages. With Southeast Asia prone to both extreme weather and unstable electricity infrastructure, the MG series addresses local challenges head-on, supporting homeowners with a more secure, sustainable energy option.

Advanced Commercial Rooftop Solution: Safer, Smarter, More Scalable

In response to the growing demand for safe and scalable commercial and industrial (C&I) solar solutions, Sungrow unveiled an integrated PV rooftop package that combines its high-performance C&I inverters with advanced protection technologies: the SR20D-M Rapid Shutdown Device and SP1400D Optimizer.

These technologies are engineered to enhance system safety and operational efficiency. The SR20D-M and SP1400D comply with stringent UL1741/3741 safety standards and are capable of reducing string voltage to under 30V within 20 seconds during emergencies—significantly mitigating the risk of electric shock or fire.

Built with Sungrow’s proprietary FHC technology, these components reduce bypass temperature, thereby improving equipment longevity and system reliability. They also support PLC communication up to 450 meters, enabling full rooftop coverage without extra installations. The patented Snap Fit Design cuts installation and maintenance time by up to 45%, allowing businesses to go solar faster and at reduced costs.

These solutions are already being deployed in large-scale projects throughout the region, including the Philippines’ first megawatt-level rapid shutdown project at a logistics park, as well as installations in Thailand and Malaysia. With Sungrow’s integrated “one brand, one platform, one control system” philosophy, commercial users benefit from streamlined design, simplified management, and enhanced operational safety.

Scaling Up C&I Energy Storage: The PowerStack 255CS

Further expanding its C&I portfolio, Sungrow showcased the PowerStack 255CS, a cutting-edge liquid-cooled ESS designed for longer-duration applications in commercial settings. Featuring 314Ah battery cells, the unit offers a capacity of 257 kWh (2-hour system) or 514 kWh (4-hour system) per container, tailored for peak shaving, energy shifting, or grid support services.

The PowerStack boasts a round-trip efficiency (RTE) of up to 90% and a projected product life of 20 years, making it one of the most efficient and durable energy storage systems in its class. Certified to meet top global safety standards, including UL9540 and NFPA855, it also comes with pre-installed and pre-commissioned components, streamlining deployment and reducing time to grid connection.

Sungrow’s commercial storage products have already seen success in more than 1,000 projects worldwide, serving critical industries such as textiles, automotive, and metallurgy. These systems are widely adopted in Europe—particularly Spain, Italy, and the Benelux region—as well as in Australia, Japan, the Middle East, and South Africa.

The summit also served as a platform for Sungrow to reinforce its long-term strategic vision for Southeast Asia. According to James Wu, Senior Vice President of Sungrow, the company is building a comprehensive ecosystem across utility-scale, commercial, and residential sectors, enabling robust and inclusive energy solutions for the region.
