Stanley Black & Decker Appoints Bill Beck as President of Tools & Outdoor Division

Stanley Black & Decker a global leader in tools, storage, and outdoor solutions, announced today that Bill Beck has been appointed President of its Tools & Outdoor division, effective October 1, 2025. In this new role, Beck will be tasked with driving the continued growth of one of the company’s largest and most important business units, while ensuring its portfolio of brands and products remain at the forefront of the industry.

Beck, who has been with Stanley Black & Decker since March 2024, currently serves as General Manager and Chief Growth Officer, Tools & Outdoor. In this capacity, he has overseen global strategy, brand positioning, and initiatives aimed at strengthening the division’s market leadership. His leadership has already been instrumental in aligning the business more closely with customer needs and advancing a brand-led, data-driven approach.

The Tools & Outdoor business is the largest segment of Stanley Black & Decker’s operations and remains the backbone of the company’s performance. In 2024, the segment generated $13.4 billion in annual revenue, underscoring its scale and critical importance. With the market for professional and consumer tools becoming increasingly competitive, Beck’s promotion comes at a pivotal moment as the company sharpens its focus on growth and operational excellence.

Chris Nelson, Stanley Black & Decker’s incoming Chief Executive Officer and current Chief Operating Officer, praised the appointment. Nelson, who also previously served as Executive Vice President and President of Tools & Outdoor, highlighted Beck’s commercial acumen and ability to inspire teams:

“Bill is an exceptional commercial leader who has already been instrumental in helping evolve our Tools & Outdoor division into a brand-led, market-back, and data-driven business. He plays a critical role in keeping our commercial teams focused on what matters—driving sales and organic growth, building a culture of operational excellence, and making sure we are setting our brands up for long-term success in the market. Between his experience, competitive drive, and commitment to our people and our brands, I am confident he will lead our teams to build on our momentum and drive the Tools & Outdoor business forward.”

A Career Built on Brand Leadership

Beck brings more than 25 years of leadership in product management and brand marketing to his new role. Before joining Stanley Black & Decker, he served as Chief Marketing Officer at Elevance Health, where he spearheaded a multiyear transition to streamline go-to-market strategies and strengthen brand architecture. His work there emphasized deeper focus on both product and brand strategy, helping the organization achieve greater clarity and effectiveness in the marketplace.

Prior to Elevance Health, Beck spent nearly a decade with Whirlpool Corporation, where he held senior leadership roles overseeing the company’s North American kitchen business and brand marketing efforts. During his tenure, he also chaired the Whirlpool Global Brand Council, guiding the strategic development of international brands, including newly acquired assets.

Beck’s career began at Pepperidge Farm, where he spent over a decade in various sales and marketing positions. His strong background in consumer products and his ability to bridge the gap between product innovation and brand storytelling have defined his career trajectory. Beck holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in business from New York University, credentials that have complemented his practical experience in leading global brands.

Beck’s Vision for the Future

In accepting his new position, Beck emphasized his commitment to building on the division’s momentum and leveraging its iconic brand portfolio.

“Stanley Black & Decker has a portfolio of some of the most iconic brands in the world—brands that stand for quality, innovation, and getting the job done,” Beck said. “We have made great strides toward capitalizing on our strength in the market, and I see enormous opportunity to accelerate our success by continuing to build and activate a growth culture. I am honored to be named President, Tools & Outdoor and excited to continue working with Chris in his new role as CEO and the entire Stanley Black & Decker team to advance our sales and organic growth goals.”

His comments reflect the company’s ongoing strategy to strengthen market share, enhance operational performance, and focus on organic growth opportunities. With Stanley Black & Decker’s tools and outdoor brands trusted by professionals and consumers worldwide, Beck’s leadership is expected to further align innovation, customer engagement, and global growth.

Driving the Next Phase of Growth

Stanley Black & Decker has consistently emphasized its mission to deliver tools and outdoor products that combine durability, performance, and innovation. The Tools & Outdoor division, which includes well-known brands such as DEWALT, Craftsman, Stanley, Black+Decker, and Cub Cadet, has a long track record of market success. However, the company has also faced industry challenges, including shifts in consumer demand, supply chain pressures, and evolving competitive landscapes.

Beck’s appointment is seen as a signal of Stanley Black & Decker’s commitment to long-term brand building and global growth, particularly as the company adapts to new market dynamics. His background in transforming brand architectures and his ability to lead cross-functional teams will be central to maintaining the division’s competitive edge.

As the global demand for tools and outdoor equipment continues to rise across both professional trades and do-it-yourself markets, Stanley Black & Decker’s decision to elevate Beck to this leadership position underscores its determination to remain an industry leader. His track record suggests that the company will not only continue its strong performance but may also expand its footprint into new growth areas.
