Schneider Electric’s Go Green Competition Returns in 2025, Empowering the Next Generation of Sustainability Innovators
Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital energy management and automation, has officially opened registration for its highly anticipated 2025 Schneider Go Green Competition. This international competition, which fosters sustainability and energy innovation, invites students and young entrepreneurs from across the globe to devise cutting-edge solutions that can drive positive social, environmental, and economic change. The Go Green Competition is part of Schneider Electric’s broader commitment to youth development through its Youth Education & Entrepreneurship program and Access to Energy initiatives, both of which aim to empower young people to tackle some of the world’s most pressing energy and sustainability challenges.
A Platform for Change: The 2025 Theme
The 2025 Go Green Competition focuses on the theme of “Renewable Energy for Life & Livelihood,” with two key areas of focus: solar-powered agriculture and solar-powered microbusinesses. These areas were carefully selected to align with Schneider Electric’s goal of creating energy access solutions that not only support communities but also enhance livelihoods and improve quality of life.
The first focal area is solar-powered agriculture, which includes innovative solutions for pre- and post-harvest processes, storage, and processing. By incorporating solar technology into these critical stages of the agricultural value chain, teams will have the opportunity to address issues related to food security, storage inefficiencies, and the environmental impact of traditional farming methods.
The second area is solar-powered microbusinesses, which can span various industries, including retail, services, refrigeration, and manufacturing. Microbusinesses are often the backbone of many developing economies, and solar energy can offer a sustainable, cost-effective solution to powering these small-scale enterprises. With the right innovation, teams can help empower microbusinesses to reduce operational costs, increase productivity, and promote long-term economic growth in their communities.
Key Dates and Prize Information
Registration for the 2025 Schneider Go Green Competition opened on April 1 and will remain open until May 31. During this period, students and young entrepreneurs are invited to form teams and submit their proposals. The competition encourages participants to collaborate and combine their diverse skills to create innovative, scalable solutions. Team submissions must be completed by June 30.

The competition offers an attractive prize pool of $18,316 to the top three winning teams, with $10,990 awarded to the first-place team, $4,579 to the second-place team, and $2,747 to the third-place team. Each team member from the winning teams will also receive a Solar Family Home Kit—an impactful gift that promotes sustainable energy solutions for homes and communities.
“The Schneider Go Green Competition represents our commitment to developing the next generation of talent,” says Charise Le, Chief Human Resources Officer at Schneider Electric. “This competition empowers students to explore solutions that address real-world challenges, encourages creativity and collaboration, and aligns perfectly with our values of Action and Inclusion. We are proud to support a diverse group of young innovators who will lead the way in creating a more sustainable future for all.”
The Schneider Electric Commitment to Youth Development
At the heart of the Schneider Go Green Competition is a deep commitment to youth development. This year, participants will gain access to a premium online course titled “Get into Energy Transition,” offered through Schneider Electric University. This course is designed to help students develop the technical skills necessary for success in the green economy and provides a comprehensive understanding of sustainability, energy management, and the emerging green job market. By participating in this course, students can enhance their knowledge and better prepare themselves for a career in energy and sustainability.
The training offered through the Youth Education & Entrepreneurship program is the result of a successful collaboration between Schneider Electric and INCO, an international organization that works to foster entrepreneurship and innovation. The partnership aims to accelerate the development of scalable, impactful solutions that can contribute to a sustainable future. As part of their participation, students can develop real-world projects and solutions, allowing them to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Mentorship: A Cornerstone of the Competition
Mentorship plays a crucial role in the success of the Schneider Go Green Competition. Each team is paired with a Schneider Electric mentor who guides them throughout the process, providing valuable insights and support. These mentors are seasoned experts in the fields of energy, technology, and sustainability, and they help students refine their ideas, improve their technical proposals, and align their solutions with both business and environmental needs.
Hajar Werzgan, a winner of the 2022 Schneider Go Green Competition from Morocco, shared her experience with the competition, highlighting the importance of mentorship. “When we participated in the competition, we were assigned a Schneider Electric mentor who helped us turn our bold ideas into practical solutions. Our mentor was instrumental in shaping our project to meet Schneider’s technical and business standards. The guidance we received was invaluable, and it allowed us to connect our solution with real user needs. Even when we encountered setbacks, we remained focused on our goal, and the support we received made all the difference in helping us stay motivated and on track.”
This mentorship model not only helps students enhance their technical and business skills but also fosters collaboration and teamwork—key attributes for future success in the professional world.
