Roquette Opens Pharmaceutical Innovation Center to Boost Latin America’s Role as a Collaboration Hub

Roquette, a global leader in plant-based ingredients and pharmaceutical excipients for the health, nutrition, and bio-industry markets, today celebrated the inauguration of its Health & Pharma Solutions Innovation Center in São Paulo, Brazil.

Located in Barueri, near downtown São Paulo, this state-of-the-art, multi-million-dollar facility demonstrates Roquette’s commitment as a preferred partner to the pharmaceutical industry in developing drug delivery solutions that contribute to life-saving treatments. The center will enable scientific experts to leverage cutting-edge tools, technologies, and skills to deliver tailored solutions to customers.

“Roquette’s new Pharmaceutical Innovation Center in São Paulo marks a major milestone in our commitment to global innovation and partnership,” said Isabelle Bouvier, General Manager of Roquette’s Health & Pharma Solutions site. “This state-of-the-art facility will foster collaboration between the brightest minds and our customers, while generating new opportunities for our employees and the community at large.”

As a regional hub, the center will support customers throughout the product development process, from initial design to market launch. Roquette’s proven expertise in polymers and formulations, combined with trusted brands such as Avicel® microcrystalline cellulose , METHOCEL™ hypromellose, MICROCEL® microcrystalline cellulose, and PEARLITOL® mannitol , will accelerate development times, minimize waste, and reduce manufacturing costs.

“Latin America is a dynamic market with immense potential,” said Adriana Quiroga, Head of Applications, Development, and Innovation for Latin America in the Health & Pharma Solutions Business Group. “We are accelerating our product development and time to market, while delivering innovative solutions with global impact.”

Roquette Health & Pharma Solutions is currently partnering with the Centro de Tecnologias Estratégicas do Nordeste (CETENE) to encourage young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through the Futuras Cientistas program. Roquette scientists will mentor the young women participating in the program and invite them to shadow them as they work in the new lab.

“At CETENE, we believe that true progress begins with inclusion,” said Dr. Giovanna Machado, Senior Researcher at the Centro de Tecnologias Estratégicas do Nordeste. “Through the Futuras Cientistas program, which we run in partnership with Roquette, we are opening doors for young women to explore science and technology, not only as students, but also as future leaders. By investing in their potential, we are investing in a more equitable, innovative, and prosperous society.”

This milestone not only marks the opening of a world-class facility, but also confirms the Health and Pharma Solutions Business Group’s commitment to advancing pharmaceutical innovation and building lasting partnerships that will shape the future of healthcare in Latin America.
