PPG has announced a two-year partnership with the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), a leading organization dedicated to promoting environmental education and sustainable development in schools worldwide. As part of this collaboration, PPG will provide a $150,000 community engagement grant to expand FEE’s initiatives focused on climate change education through UNESCO’s Greening Education Partnership (GEP). This partnership is a key element of PPG’s commitment to invest $5 million in environmental sustainability education by 2030.
“We are excited to collaborate with FEE to empower future generations with the knowledge and skills necessary to combat climate change,” said Peter Votruba-Drzal, PPG Vice President of Global Sustainability. “Together, we aim to develop and share high-quality educational resources that inspire students around the world to become environmental stewards.”
The funding will support the development and distribution of new educational materials, including a comprehensive “Eco-Schools” handbook, instructional videos, online courses, and teacher training resources. These materials will be available in multiple languages—English, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, and French—to ensure widespread accessibility.
Based in Copenhagen, FEE coordinates the Greening Education Partnership, which aims to meet UNESCO’s goal of accrediting 50% of schools to a green school scheme by 2030 and increasing the number of countries that incorporate climate education into their school curricula.
“Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges we face, and education is crucial in addressing it,” stated Daniel Schaffer, CEO of FEE. “With PPG’s support, we will leverage the best practices from our global Eco-Schools network to create new tools and resources. These will empower schools, youth, and communities worldwide to tackle immediate climate challenges and foster long-term sustainability.”
This partnership marks PPG’s inaugural global initiative in environmental education, with the potential to influence 30,000 schools, engage 75,000 teachers, and reach 1 million students globally, leaving a lasting impact in the fight against climate change.
