Pegasus Airlines to Acquire Up to 200 Boeing 737-10 Jets
Boeing and Pegasus Airlines have announced a major agreement that will significantly expand and modernize the fleet of Türkiye’s leading low-cost carrier. Pegasus Airlines has committed to an order of up to 200 Boeing 737 MAX airplanes, including a firm order for 100 737-10 jets with an option to purchase 100 additional aircraft.
The 737-10, the largest model in the 737 MAX family, is designed to carry up to 230 passengers with a range of up to 5,740 kilometers (3,100 nautical miles). This aircraft offers a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions compared to the airplanes it replaces, providing Pegasus Airlines with an efficient and environmentally friendly option for expanding its operations. The advanced technology of the 737-10 will allow the airline to serve more passengers across an expanded network while maintaining the lowest cost per seat of any single-aisle aircraft available today.
Boeing aircraft have been an integral part of our operations since entered the aviation industry in 1990, said Güliz Öztürk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines. “We are pleased to be expanding our fleet with the new Boeing 737-10 model aircraft. We continue to invest in our fleet in line with our growth targets in Türkiye and globally, and to expand our network by launching new routes.”
Öztürk elaborated on the airline’s strategic decision, saying, “Within the scope of our agreement with Boeing, we have ordered a total of 200 Boeing 737-10 aircraft. The first 100 aircraft are firm orders, and we will evaluate converting the remaining 100 options into firm orders in the coming years, based on market conditions and the needs of our fleet.”
Pegasus Airlines began its operations with the Boeing 737 Classic nearly 35 years ago. Over the decades, the airline has maintained a strong partnership with Boeing, operating a fleet that includes Next-Generation 737s. The addition of the 737-10 will complement Pegasus’ existing fleet, providing operational consistency and the flexibility to meet growing travel demand.

The acquisition of the 737-10 comes at a time when low-cost carriers are driving regional growth and connectivity. The aircraft’s capabilities will enable Pegasus Airlines to reach new markets across Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa. Boeing’s Commercial Market Outlook predicts that European and Central Asian operators will require nearly 7,900 single-aisle airplanes over the next two decades, underlining the importance of this deal for meeting future market demand.
In addition to bolstering Pegasus Airlines’ operations, the agreement is expected to have a broader impact on the Turkish aerospace industry. Öztürk noted, “When considered within the scope of Boeing’s National Aerospace Initiative launched with the Turkish government in 2017, our order will also open new doors and create production and export opportunities both for Turkish manufacturers and for the wider aviation industry.”
The purchase of 100 737-10 jets by Pegasus Airlines brings total orders for the 737 MAX variant to over 1,200 aircraft. This milestone underscores the popularity of the 737 MAX family among airlines seeking efficiency and performance in their single-aisle fleets.
