MOGAS Grieves the Passing of Vincent Louis Mogas, Esteemed Chairman and Founder
Vincent Louis Mogas, the cherished chairman and founder of MOGAS, passed away on May 2, 2024, in Houston, Texas. Louis dedicated his life to nurturing a valve manufacturing business and fostering a corporate culture grounded in integrity. MOGAS Industries emerged in May 1973 when Louis Mogas acquired a modest machine shop in Houston. His vision expanded as he secured the rights to service and manufacture ball valves from Cameron Iron Works. Guided by Louis’ leadership, the company delved into the intricacies of valve failures and established a pioneering R&D department, tailoring valves to precise applications. Since 2000, MOGAS has extended its presence with sales and service offices across Australia, China, Europe, Canada, South America, the Middle East, and India.
Early in his tenure, Louis Mogas instilled business practices that became the bedrock of the company’s core values—embracing the notion that everyone holds a CEO role in some capacity, prioritizing joy in work, and steadfastly upholding ethical principles. His conviction that work should be both gratifying and honorable, and that unity prevails within the MOGAS family, continues to underpin the company’s ethos.
While accolades, such as The Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Private Companies and multiple recognitions as one of the Best Companies to Work For in Texas, adorned Louis’ career, his greatest source of pride lay in his family’s philanthropic endeavors and the contributions of MOGAS employees to charitable causes. Louis championed numerous initiatives, including support for the Ronald McDonald House Houston, The Periwinkle Foundation, Camp for All, the National Multiple Sclerosis Association, and various schools in the Houston district. In 2017, Texas A&M University, Kingsville, bestowed upon Louis Mogas the title of Distinguished Alumnus in recognition of his establishment of the Mogas Family Perseverance Scholarship Endowment. MOGAS Industries also extends educational assistance to employees and their children through scholarships and grants, and nurtures young talent through summer internships.
The passing of Louis Mogas leaves a profound void for his family, the MOGAS Executive Leadership Team, and employees worldwide. His leadership was matched only by his unwavering zeal for life and service to others. The enduring lessons imparted by Louis will forever resonate within our hearts, guiding us as we honor his legacy through our work and in our lives.
