Michelin and Sonatus Launch Deployment-Ready Embedded Tire Digital Twin Solutions for Next-Generation Mobility

Michelin and Sonatus Showcase Predictive Tire Intelligence at CES 2026

Michelin, a global leader in tire manufacturing and advanced composite materials, and Sonatus, a pioneer in software-defined vehicle technologies, will present the latest advancements in predictive tire health and maintenance at CES 2026.

At the event, Michelin will demonstrate its SmartLoad and SmartWear applications, which convert on-board vehicle data into predictive insights that help extend tire life, enhance safety, and reduce operating costs. Deployed through the Sonatus AI Director, these applications deliver real-time tire performance intelligence directly within the vehicle.

Unlike traditional tire monitoring systems that rely on pressure sensors or mileage-based estimates, Michelin’s software-based approach analyzes high-frequency vehicle signals such as braking behavior, vehicle load, cornering forces, and driving conditions. This advanced analysis provides a more accurate picture of actual tire health and performance. By virtualizing sensors through software, these solutions can reduce hardware requirements and lower vehicle bill-of-materials costs—an approach that Frost & Sullivan estimates could generate $1.68 billion in industry cost savings by 2030.

The collaboration combines Michelin’s deep expertise in tire physics, modeling, and data with Sonatus’ embedded AI orchestration capabilities. Michelin’s Tire Digital Twin technology is operationalized at scale using Sonatus Collector AI, which enables rapid calibration for different automakers, and Sonatus AI Director, which supports secure, containerized deployment across multiple electronic control units. This edge-based deployment minimizes cloud dependency while safeguarding sensitive vehicle and user data.

At CES 2026, we are demonstrating how software-defined vehicle platforms can seamlessly integrate advanced partner solutions,” said Alexandre Corjon, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Sonatus. “By deploying Michelin’s SmartLoad and SmartWear through our AI technologies, we are highlighting a clear path toward safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mobility.”

Ali Rezgui, Vice President of Michelin Tire Digital Twin, emphasized the strategic vision behind the initiative:
SmartLoad and SmartWear show how Michelin’s expertise in tire physics and modeling transforms complex vehicle data into predictive, actionable intelligence. These solutions help automakers and fleets extend tire life, improve safety, reduce costs, and support sustainable mobility. They are the first steps in a broader Tire Digital Twin portfolio designed to integrate seamlessly with vehicle dynamic software systems.”

Visitors to CES 2026 will experience Michelin’s predictive tire intelligence through a live demonstration featuring a 1970 Ford Bronco equipped with Sonatus technology. Using Michelin’s MyTires app, attendees will see how real-time vehicle data is converted into actionable insights that enable safer driving, longer tire life, and lower operating expenses.

Michelin’s SmartLoad and SmartWear applications will be showcased at the Sonatus booth (Booth 5439) in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, from January 6–9, 2026.
