Trane Technologies, a global leader in climate innovation, has announced the appointment of Mauro Atalla as its new Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer, effective January 5, 2025. Atalla will report directly to Dave Regnery, Chair and CEO, and will be an integral part of the company’s executive leadership team. In his new role, Atalla will spearhead the company’s product development, innovation, and sustainability strategies on a global scale.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mauro as our new Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer,” said Regnery. “Innovative technology plays a crucial role in advancing our purpose-driven strategy, and Mauro’s extensive experience will be invaluable as we continue to innovate for our customers, create value for our shareholders, and contribute to a sustainable future.”
Atalla will be responsible for leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive business growth and innovation at Trane Technologies, while delivering sustainable solutions to the global market. His efforts will be focused on integrating these technologies into the company’s product roadmaps to ensure alignment with its 2030 Sustainability Commitments. This will include driving product innovation that supports the company’s vision for a sustainable future while meeting the evolving needs of its customers and stakeholders.
With over 26 years of experience in the industrial sector, Atalla brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new position. He has a diverse background, having worked across both the aerospace and buildings industries. Most recently, Atalla served as Senior Vice President of Engineering & Technology at Collins Aerospace Systems, where he led a global team of 21,000 engineers. His responsibilities included overseeing technology development, product safety, cybersecurity, and sustainability efforts. Atalla was also instrumental in the successful integration of engineering organizations during significant mergers, including the 2018 acquisition of Rockwell Collins and the 2020 merger between United Technologies and Raytheon.
Atalla’s academic credentials are equally impressive. He holds a doctorate in engineering mechanics from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Duke University. He is widely recognized as a leader in his field and was recently elected as a Fellow by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2023. Additionally, Atalla was honored with the 2024 Aerospace Executive Award by SAE International, an award that celebrates his significant contributions to the aerospace industry, particularly his role in advancing technology and innovation.
I am excited to join Trane Technologies and contribute to its important work in driving innovation and sustainability, said Atalla. “I look forward to collaborating with the talented team here to deliver technologies that will not only help our customers but also create lasting value for our stakeholders while advancing the company’s sustainability goals.”
Atalla’s appointment comes as Trane Technologies prepares for a leadership transition. He will succeed Paul Camuti, the company’s current Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer, who will retire at the end of this year. Camuti has been a key figure in the company since 2011, when he joined as Executive Vice President. Over the years, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s sustainability strategy, technology roadmaps, and driving performance through innovation.
Paul has had a long and distinguished career in technology and innovation, and his contributions to Trane Technologies have been immense,” said Regnery. “He has been a driving force behind the company’s sustainability strategy and has helped lead the way in integrating innovation into our products and services. We are deeply grateful for his leadership and wish him the very best in his retirement.
Atalla’s appointment as Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer marks a new chapter for Trane Technologies as the company continues to push the boundaries of innovation while prioritizing sustainability in every aspect of its operations. With a proven track record of leadership and a strong commitment to technology and sustainability, Atalla is poised to lead the company into a future where environmental responsibility and technological advancement go hand in hand.
