Lumentum to Showcase Optical Innovations for Cloud, AI & Networking at OFC 2025

Lumentum Holdings Inc. (“Lumentum”), a global leader in optical and photonic solutions for cloud and networking markets, is set to unveil its latest innovations at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference and Exhibition (OFC) 2025, taking place from March 30 to April 3 in San Francisco. At booth #2119, Lumentum will showcase its cutting-edge advancements in high-speed data interconnect products, optical circuit switching (OCS), high-power pump lasers, and next-generation networking technologies. These innovations reaffirm Lumentum’s commitment to enabling efficient scaling of AI-driven and cloud-scale networking architectures through its broad portfolio of advanced optical components and indium phosphide (InP) photonic devices.

Live Demonstrations: Advancing AI, Cloud, and Networking
Networking for AI/ML Workloads, Cloud Environments, and Coherent Data Center Interconnects

Lumentum will feature live demonstrations across three dedicated racks, each highlighting a specific domain: AI/ML front-end and back-end networks, data center interconnects (DCI), and long-haul optical networks. A significant highlight will be its OCS technology, designed to enhance scalability, efficiency, and power savings for AI/ML interconnects and cloud networking environments.

R300 OCS: Redefining AI Cluster Interconnects

Lumentum will also demonstrate its new R300 OCS, a 300×300 port solution optimized for AI cluster interconnects and intra-data center networking. The R300 OCS, currently in sampling with hyperscale cloud customers, is expected to be available in the second half of 2025. This MEMS-based optical switching solution, backed by over a trillion-field mirror operating hours and hundreds of patents, offers a power-efficient and cost-effective alternative to conventional Ethernet architectures.

Partner Collaboration with Keysight and NTT Innovative Devices

Lumentum is also collaborating with Keysight Technologies and NTT Innovative Devices to showcase 448 Gbps data transmission using 224 GBaud PAM4 externally modulated laser (EML) technology. This demonstration, held at booth #1301, highlights Lumentum’s high-bandwidth InP EML technology, which enables power-efficient, high-speed optical interconnects crucial for AI and cloud infrastructure. Notably, this marks the first-ever characterization of an InP modulator using PAM4 modulation at 448 Gbps.

M2 Series Pump Laser: High-Power Optical Amplification

Lumentum is launching the M2 Series 980 nm Fiber Bragg Grating-Stabilized Pump Modules, which are engineered for high-power optical amplification. These modules feature a dual-chip architecture with independently controlled emitters in a compact 10-pin butterfly package, delivering total output power ranging from 800 to 1800 mW. Fully compliant with Telcordia GR-468-CORE standards, the M2 series is designed for superior performance and reliability in cloud and carrier-class optical network infrastructures.
