Keysight has announced a definitive agreement with Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS) to acquire its Optical Solutions Group, a leading provider of optical design and analysis software. The deal is contingent on customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals and the successful completion of Synopsys’ acquisition of Ansys, expected in the first half of 2025.
The acquisition will bring a comprehensive suite of software for optical systems design, simulation, and virtual prototyping, along with an experienced team of industry experts. This move will expand Keysight’s design engineering software portfolio, enhancing its core expertise in radio frequency (RF) and microwave electronic design automation (EDA), as well as physics-based computer-aided engineering. Together, Keysight’s software and hardware solutions will help customers innovate faster, predict real-world performance more accurately, and shorten time-to-market.
Niels Faché, Vice President and General Manager of Keysight’s Design Engineering Software, expressed excitement about expanding Keysight’s software simulation capabilities into optics and photonics. He noted that this acquisition will allow the company to address complex, multi-physics design challenges across various industries. Keysight looks forward to integrating the Optical Solutions Group’s team and technology once the deal closes.
Ravi Subramanian, General Manager of Synopsys’ Systems Design Group, praised the Optical Solutions Group’s accomplishments, noting that the transition to Keysight will ensure strong competition in the optical design solutions market, benefiting customers globally.
