Juniper Networks, a leader in secure AI-native networking, has announced that JATCO Ltd., a global frontrunner in the automotive transmission sector, has implemented Juniper’s AI-Native Networking Platform. This deployment aims to provide exceptional experiences through industry-leading AIOps, creating a robust ‘triple-win’ Wi-Fi network that addresses the challenges faced by its employees, executives, and IT administrators due to an aging Wi-Fi infrastructure.
Founded in 1970 and jointly owned by Nissan, Mitsubishi Motors, and Suzuki, JATCO has been a key supplier of transmissions to automakers worldwide. With a strong reputation as one of the largest manufacturers of continuously variable transmissions (CVTs) for traditional internal combustion vehicles, JATCO is also preparing for the mass production of electric powertrains as electric vehicles gain traction in the market.
To foster connectivity among its diverse operations, JATCO has built a Wi-Fi network that links its frontline production sites and back-office functions. However, the aging Wi-Fi environment has led to rising costs and operational difficulties, requiring constant troubleshooting and significantly hindering the efficiency of the IT department, end users, and connected devices.
To address these issues, JATCO launched a major project to upgrade its network, selecting Juniper’s Mist AI™ and deploying Juniper AP43 and AP63 Access Points (APs). This setup harnesses AIOps trained on nine years of insights and data science, enabling JATCO to gain valuable insights into user experiences and implement proactive fault resolution—resulting in a ‘triple-win’ Wi-Fi network:
- For Executives: The upgrade enhances productivity, providing a high return on investment through reduced implementation costs and increased cost-effectiveness.
- For Employees: The new network ensures reliable, consistent performance at scale, offering user-friendly, measurable, secure, and high-quality connections for all users.
- For IT Administrators: The upgrade simplifies network management, reducing configuration errors and allowing for greater agility, freeing up resources to focus on innovation.
Thanks to the Juniper deployment, JATCO has halved its deployment costs compared to other solutions, allowing for budget reallocation and expediting the migration to Juniper APs. This has led to a significant improvement in the overall user experience across its stakeholder base.
Having received positive feedback from users following the back-office upgrade, JATCO plans to gradually roll out Juniper’s AI-Native Networking Platform across its entire network. This expansion may involve replacing all APs at twelve sites throughout Japan and potentially implementing the Marvis Virtual Network Assistant, further supporting JATCO’s growth and digital transformation through superior end-to-end networking experiences.
