Amkor Technology, a premier provider of semiconductor packaging and testing services, has announced that James Kim will retire as Executive Chairman, effective October 31, 2024. Following his departure, Susan Kim, currently Amkor’s Executive Vice Chairman, will assume the role of Chairman of the Board.
James Kim, who founded Amkor in 1968, has been a pivotal figure in the outsourced semiconductor assembly and test services industry for over 56 years. In honor of his significant contributions, the Board will bestow upon him the honorary title of Chairman Emeritus upon his retirement.
Mr. Kim stated, “After more than five decades with Amkor, I believe it is the right time for me to retire. Our company is in excellent financial health, with robust technology leadership in advanced packaging, a diversified global presence, and strong partnerships with leading customers. I am confident in our President and CEO, Giel Rutten, as well as my daughter Susan as the new Chairman of the Board, and the entire Board’s ability to guide Amkor towards continued success.”
