Hyundai Motor Unveils the IONIQ 9, Pioneering a New Era in Spacious EV Design

Hyundai Motor Company has revealed teaser images of its anticipated IONIQ 9, a three-row, all-electric SUV that represents a bold step in Hyundai’s journey toward full electrification.

The IONIQ 9 marks Hyundai’s entrance into the large electric SUV category, symbolized by the number ‘9’ in its model name, expanding the IONIQ lineup beyond the success of the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6. With the IONIQ 9, Hyundai seeks to redefine the EV experience, leveraging the spacious, comfortable interior of its renowned Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

Designed with a unique “Aerosthetic” approach, the IONIQ 9 combines sleek aerodynamics with a visually appealing aesthetic. The SUV’s design is inspired by boat-like elegance, featuring a single-curved roofline and extended wheelbase, creating ample space for all passengers, including those in the third row. Teaser sketches highlight intricate design features, including character lines on the sides that echo the diagonal lines of the traditional Korean Hanbok garment. The front lights feature Hyundai’s distinctive Parametric Pixels, and the dynamic multi-spoke wheel design complements the SUV’s refined style.

Starting October 30, Hyundai will share teaser content on its social media channels, leading up to the IONIQ 9’s official world premiere in November. More details on this premiere are expected soon. The IONIQ 9 embodies Hyundai’s vision of EVs that emphasize space and comfort, ushering in a new era in electric vehicle design.

The IONIQ 9 launch follows Hyundai’s record-breaking year and production of its 100 millionth vehicle. The company is committed to electrification, with a target of selling 2 million EVs by 2030 as it continues to shape the future of electric mobility.
