Hyundai and Robotics LAB Win 17 GOOD DESIGN® Awards

Hyundai Motor Company and Hyundai Motor Group’s (the Group) Robotics LAB announced an impressive achievement of 17 prestigious GOOD DESIGN® Awards in 2024, spanning multiple categories. Hyundai Motor secured 12 wins, while the Robotics LAB garnered five awards in the Robotics category, highlighting their continued excellence in design and innovation.

Recognition Across Fields

The GOOD DESIGN® Awards, the world’s oldest design accolade established in 1950, are jointly presented by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design, and Urban Studies. The awards honor outstanding design across multiple categories, evaluating entries based on innovation, aesthetics, functionality, sustainability, and energy efficiency, among other criteria.

Hyundai Motor’s 12 Awards

Hyundai Motor excelled in various categories, securing six awards in Graphic Design. These accolades were for:

Advanced Air Mobility: Supernal

  • Heritage ‘PONY’ Exhibition Branding
  • Heritage Retrace Collection Book ‘PONY’
  • Re:Style 2023 Exhibition Branding
  • Re:Style 2023 Archiving Book
  • The All-New SANTA FE Launching Book

The company’s achievements extended to the Transportation category, where three awards were won for:

  • The PONY Car Diffuser
  • Global Home Charger
  • A trio of future mobility concepts: DICE (Digital Curated Experience), SPACE (Spatial Curated Experience), and CITY POD

Further highlighting Its focus on sustainability and innovation, three additional awards were received for:

  • Re:Style Keyring Collection (Recycling)
  • Multi-Lantern (Lighting)
  • Sustainable Paper Package Series (Packaging)
Robotics LAB’s Achievements

The Group’s Robotics LAB made a strong impact in the Robotics category, taking home five awards:

  • X-ble Shoulder
  • MobED Delivery
  • Safety Inspection Robot
  • DAL-e Delivery
  • Service Robot DAL-e

These wins represented half of the total awards in the Robotics field this year, demonstrating the Group’s leadership in advanced robotics solutions. “These awards are a result of the constant efforts and commitment of designers and engineers to take a step toward the world of robotic intelligence,” said Dong Jin Hyun, Vice President and Head of Robotics LAB at Hyundai Motor and Kia. “We will continue to ensure that innovative robotics technology naturally meets customers’ needs.”

Global Recognition and Previous Wins

Many of the winning projects have already achieved success in other prestigious design competitions. For instance:

  • Its Heritage ‘PONY’ Exhibition Branding earned a Gold award at the IDEA Design Awards in 2024, along with wins at the iF Design Awards and Red Dot Design Awards.
  • Hyundai Heritage Retrace Collection Book ‘PONY’ was the only entry to receive the ‘Curator’s Choice’ award at the IDEA Design Awards 2024, further showcasing Hyundai’s excellence in heritage branding.

The Group’s Safety Inspection Robot achieved victories across all four major design awards: Red Dot (‘Best of the Best’), iF, IDEA, and GOOD DESIGN®. Similarly, the DAL-e Delivery robot triumphed at Red Dot, GOOD DESIGN® (U.S.), and GOOD DESIGN (Korea). The MobED Delivery robot secured two awards, including Red Dot (‘Best of the Best’) and GOOD DESIGN®.
