Honeywell Technologies Announces Leadership Changes Across Process Technology and Building Automation
Honeywell Technologies (Nasdaq: HON) has announced a series of leadership changes aimed at strengthening its process technology and building automation businesses as the company continues to focus on growth, operational execution, innovation and customer-centered solutions. The company said Billal Hammoud will become President and Chief Executive Officer of Process Technology, while Juan Picon will take over as President and CEO of Building Automation.
The appointments will become effective Oct. 1, 2026. Hammoud will succeed Ken West, who is leaving Honeywell Technologies on Aug. 31, 2026, to pursue an opportunity outside the company. Picon, who currently serves as President of Building Automation Americas, will succeed Hammoud in leading the Building Automation business.
Both executives will report directly to Vimal Kapur, Chairman and CEO of Honeywell Technologies.
The leadership transition comes as Honeywell Technologies continues to strengthen its position as a global automation company serving building, industrial and process markets. The company is placing particular emphasis on accelerating organic growth, improving profitability, expanding into attractive end markets and deploying digital technologies across its customer base.
Billal Hammoud to Lead Process Technology
Hammoud brings extensive experience within Honeywell Technologies to his new position. Since 2023, he has served as President and CEO of Building Automation, where he has overseen a significant transformation of the business.
During his tenure, Hammoud helped increase annual organic growth from 2% in 2023 to 8% in 2025. His strategy focused on concentrating resources on higher-growth market segments, strengthening regional operations, empowering local teams and introducing innovative solutions designed to address changing customer requirements.
Under Hammoud’s leadership, Building Automation achieved seven consecutive quarters of high-single-digit organic growth while also delivering margin expansion. The business expanded its focus on markets such as healthcare, hospitality and data centers, where demand for advanced automation, energy efficiency, connected infrastructure and intelligent building systems continues to develop.
Hammoud also played a key role in advancing Honeywell Technologies’ digital capabilities, including the adoption of Forge Connected Buildings. The platform supports connected building operations and provides customers with technology designed to improve efficiency, visibility and decision-making.
Kapur highlighted Hammoud’s ability to execute strategy, maintain operational discipline and integrate acquisitions as important strengths that will support his transition to Process Technology. His experience includes involvement in the integration of the company’s $4.95 billion acquisition of Access Solutions.
According to Kapur, Hammoud’s combination of strategic execution, operational rigor and M&A experience makes him well positioned to guide Process Technology through its next stage of growth and profitability.
Hammoud’s Broader Honeywell Career
Before taking responsibility for Building Automation, Hammoud served as President and General Manager of Smart Energy and Thermal Solutions within Honeywell Technologies’ Performance Materials and Technologies organization.
In that role, he managed a portfolio focused on energy management, electrification and thermal solutions. These areas are increasingly important as industrial customers seek technologies that can support energy efficiency, electrification, sustainability and improved operational performance.
Earlier in his Honeywell career, Hammoud held senior leadership positions including Vice President and General Manager of Thermal Solutions and Vice President and General Manager of Combustion Controls.
Before joining Honeywell Technologies, he held leadership positions at ESAB, which was formerly part of Colfax. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Wayne State University.
His broad combination of engineering, operational and commercial experience is expected to support his responsibilities at Process Technology, where technological innovation and industrial automation are central to the business.
Juan Picon Named President and CEO of Building Automation
As Hammoud moves to Process Technology, Juan Picon will assume leadership of Building Automation on Oct. 1, 2026.
Picon currently serves as President of Building Automation Americas. In this role, he has worked to strengthen customer relationships throughout the region while increasing the business’s emphasis on higher-growth market segments.
His responsibilities have included supporting the company’s expansion in sectors such as healthcare, hospitality and data centers. These industries increasingly depend on sophisticated building management, automation, safety and digital technologies to improve operating efficiency and respond to evolving customer needs.
Picon returned to Honeywell Technologies in 2024 as President of the Fire Life Safety business. Since then, he has expanded his leadership responsibilities and demonstrated an ability to manage business transformation while maintaining a strong focus on customers and company culture.
Before returning to Honeywell Technologies, Picon held executive leadership positions at Sensata Technologies, WESCO Distribution and General Cable.
His earlier career also includes more than 18 years at Honeywell Technologies, where he held multiple leadership positions across different business segments. His experience included work in the company’s automation and controls operations, giving him substantial familiarity with the organization, its technologies and its customer base.
Picon’s performance and leadership were recognized in 2025 when he received Honeywell Technologies’ annual Chairman’s Award. The award represents the company’s highest employee recognition for superior performance.
Extensive Educational and International Experience
Picon brings a diverse educational background to his new role. He holds an MBA from Arizona State University, along with a master’s degree in European Union Law from the University of Carlos III of Madrid.
He also earned a Diploma in Business from the Centro de Estudios de Comercio of Madrid and a Law degree from the University Complutense of Madrid.
His combination of business, legal and international education complements his extensive executive experience across industrial and technology-focused organizations.
As President and CEO of Building Automation, Picon will be responsible for building on the progress made under Hammoud and continuing the business’s focus on profitable growth, customer engagement, innovation and expansion in attractive vertical markets.
Leadership Depth Supports Honeywell’s Strategy
Kapur described the appointments as evidence of the strength and depth of Honeywell Technologies’ leadership organization. The company believes that moving experienced internal executives into key positions can provide continuity while also bringing fresh perspectives to important business areas.
Hammoud’s transition to Process Technology allows Honeywell Technologies to apply his experience in transformation, operational improvement and acquisitions to another critical business. Meanwhile, Picon’s move into the top Building Automation role provides continuity for a business where he already has significant regional and global experience.
The company also recognized Ken West for his contributions and leadership. Honeywell Technologies said West helped position Process Technology for long-term growth and expressed its appreciation for his work while wishing him success in his next endeavor.
Honeywell Technologies’ Automation Focus
Honeywell Technologies describes itself as a global pure-play automation company focused on addressing some of the world’s most critical industrial and infrastructure challenges.
The company serves building, industrial and process markets through a broad portfolio of products, services and technology solutions. Its offerings are supported by the Honeywell Technologies Accelerator operating system and Honeywell Technologies Forge intelligence layer.
The company’s strategy combines decades of industrial expertise with data generated by its installed technology base. With more than 50,000 employees, Honeywell Technologies aims to help customers transition from conventional automation toward increasingly autonomous industrial and building operations.
This transformation is being driven by several major trends, including digitalization, artificial intelligence, connected infrastructure, energy efficiency, electrification and the growing demand for more intelligent industrial processes.
Organic Growth as a Key Performance Measure
Honeywell Technologies also provided information concerning its use of organic sales growth as a non-GAAP financial measure.
The company defines organic sales growth as the year-over-year change in reported sales adjusted for factors such as divestitures, foreign currency translation, acquisitions during the first 12 months following a transaction and certain unusual or non-recurring items.
For Building Automation, the company reported organic sales growth of 8% in 2025, compared with 2% in 2023. Reported sales growth for the business was 13% in 2025 and 1% in 2023, with the organic figure excluding the effects of acquisitions, currency movements and other specified factors.
Honeywell Technologies said management considers such measures useful for understanding ongoing business performance and identifying operating trends. However, the company emphasized that non-GAAP measures should be considered alongside, rather than as replacements for, GAAP financial measures.
The company also cautioned that other organizations may calculate similar non-GAAP measures differently, which can limit their usefulness for comparisons.
Looking Ahead
The leadership changes effective Oct. 1 represent an important transition for two major Honeywell Technologies businesses. Hammoud will take his experience in business transformation, operational discipline, product innovation and M&A integration to Process Technology, while Picon will lead Building Automation following his recent work strengthening the Americas organization and expanding its focus on higher-growth markets.
Together, the appointments are intended to support Honeywell Technologies’ broader strategy of profitable growth, customer-focused execution and technology-led transformation.
With an experienced leadership team, a global workforce of more than 50,000 employees and a growing portfolio of automation and digital solutions, Honeywell Technologies is positioning itself to participate in the continued evolution of industrial and building automation.
The company’s emphasis on connected technologies, intelligent operations, energy management and autonomous systems is expected to remain central to its strategy as customers across industrial, process and building markets seek greater efficiency, reliability and operational intelligence.
