Granite is broadening its home market strategy in the Southeast with several new projects, capitalizing on recent acquisitions of Lehman-Roberts, Memphis Stone & Gravel (MSG), and Dickerson & Bowen Inc. (D&B). These projects highlight Granite’s versatility and commitment to infrastructure development in the construction and materials sectors within the region:
Olive Branch Airport Taxiway Rehabilitation, Mississippi: Lehman-Roberts was recently awarded a contract to restore and improve a portion of the taxiway at Olive Branch Airport. The project involves approximately 2,750 tons of hot mix asphalt (HMA) for the pavement rehabilitation, with completion anticipated by August 2025.
US 61 Improvement, Tunica County, Mississippi: Starting in September 2024, Lehman-Roberts embarked on a 10-mile project for the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) on US 61. This initiative includes scrub sealing and overlaying from Clayton to State Aid Road 72, using 34,000 tons of HMA and 20,000 tons of gravel supplied by MSG. The project is scheduled for completion by July 2025.
SR 547 Overlay, Claiborne County, Mississippi: In late October 2024, D&B will begin an overlay project on approximately 19 miles of SR 547, stretching from the Copiah County Line to Port Gibson. D&B will provide around 22,500 tons of HMA and 1,800 tons of Class 5, Group D Granular material sourced from its Brookhaven plant. The project is expected to wrap up in October 2025.
We’re excited to announce these new contract awards,” said Patrick Nelson, Granite’s Vice President of Regional Operations. “These projects not only expand our construction portfolio but also strengthen our asphalt and aggregate materials businesses, underscoring our commitment to delivering high-quality services to our clients and enhancing infrastructure for our communities.
