GigaDevice, a leading global supplier of semiconductor devices, today announced the official launch of the GD32F5HC series of general-purpose 32-bit microcontrollers . Designed to deliver a compact form factor, high-frequency operation, ample memory, and enhanced security, while offering ultra-low power consumption and a rich peripheral configuration, this new series expands the GD32 Arm® Cortex®-M33 portfolio and provides a powerful platform for next-generation HMI and IoT Edge solutions. Samples, development boards, and comprehensive technical documentation are now available to facilitate rapid evaluation and mass production deployment.
High efficiency, advanced computing performance and built-in security: a powerful competitive advantage.
The GD32F5HC series , based on the Arm® Cortex®-M33 core, operates at a base clock speed of 200 MHz. Leveraging the efficient Arm®v8-M architecture, these chips integrate an advanced hardware DSP accelerator and a single-precision floating-point unit (FPU) to accelerate real-time control and algorithm-driven application tasks. This series offers ultra-high capacity compared to similar products, with up to 2048 KB of Flash memory, 320 KB of SRAM, and 32 KB of cache I, enabling developers with significant program storage needs to easily implement complex algorithms, graphics frameworks, and high-speed data pipelines. The GD32F5HC series also incorporates a comprehensive set of built-in security mechanisms. Featuring a TrustZone® – enabled architecture that provides hardware-level security protection and supports two-level access control via MPU and SAU to enhance core system security , the series further extends its protection with dedicated hardware security resources, including a 2000-bit eFuse for storing security keys and a comprehensive suite of cryptographic accelerators including TRNG (True Random Number Generator), SHA, DES/3DES, AES, RSA/DH, and ECC. End-to-end protection is ensured through secure boot, secure storage, secure debugging, and secure updates, guaranteeing firmware integrity and protecting devices throughout their lifecycle. This provides an increasingly critical level of security as modern products strive to meet the stringent requirements of emerging regulations.
Rich peripheral resources and high-speed connectivity are at the heart of application versatility.
To meet the demands of multi-application scenarios, the GD32F5HC series integrates a comprehensive set of high-speed peripherals and communication interfaces. These include 2x SPI/1x I2S, 1x SQPI, 1x QSPI, 2x I2C, 3x USART, and 1x USB FS OTG. The QSPI and SQPI interfaces support external PSRAM/Flash memory, with frequencies up to 45 MHz for extended storage capacity. Analog peripherals include a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), an integrated temperature sensor, and IFRP for high-precision analog signal acquisition and processing.
A robust synchronization subsystem provides one 16-bit advanced timer, two 32-bit general timers, four 16-bit general timers, and one 16-bit basic timer, supporting accurate waveform generation, motor control, and synchronized multi-axis operation. System throughput is further enhanced by the 8-channel DMA0/DMA1 and DMAMUX modules, ensuring efficient data transfer and reduced CPU load.
Low power consumption design and universal adaptability
Designed for performance-oriented and battery-powered applications, the GD32F5HC series incorporates multimode power optimization: operating mode, 30.56 mA; standby; deep standby; standby, 3.63 µA. The chip operates in a voltage range of 2.7 to 3.63 V and covers a temperature range of -40 °C to +105 °C, combined with power management features such as POR/PDR, LVD, and BOR. Available in highly compact BGA64, 4×4 mm, and QFN56 packages, with up to 54 GPIO pins and 8 wake-up I/O pins. Ideal for complex, compact, and high-density industrial and consumer applications.
Comprehensive ecosystem support for rapid development
The GD32F5HC series offers full ecosystem support, including popular GUI frameworks with QSPI-driven resolution up to 400 × 400 , enabling developers to easily create seamless human-machine interaction interfaces for display-centric products.
GigaDevice offers the free GD32 Embedded Builder IDE, GD-LINK debugging tools and the GD32 all-in-one programmer, with additional support for common Arm® KEIL, IAR and SEGGER toolchains to streamline development and accelerate time to market.
