FIA Welcomes Hankook as a Global Partner in Its International Programme

FIA Appoints Hankook as New Global Partner to Advance Safety, Sustainability and Innovation

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has announced the appointment of Hankook, one of the world’s leading tyre manufacturers, as its newest Global Partner, marking a significant step in the organisation’s ongoing commitment to safety, sustainability and technological innovation across motor sport and global mobility.

The partnership formalises a collaboration that has been developing for more than three years within the FIA Global Partner Programme, bringing together two organisations with closely aligned values and a shared vision for the future of mobility. Through this agreement, Hankook will play an expanded role in supporting the FIA’s international platforms and initiatives that drive progress both on and off the race track.

Strategic Partnership Across Key FIA Platforms

As part of the agreement, Hankook has been named an Official Partner of the FIA Awards, the organisation’s flagship annual event celebrating excellence across motor sport and mobility. In addition, Hankook will support the FIA Sustainable Innovation Series, a global initiative delivered in collaboration with multiple FIA World Championships, including Formula One, Formula E, the World Endurance Championship (WEC), and the World Rally Championship (WRC).

The Sustainable Innovation Series partnership will run from 2026 to 2028, reinforcing Hankook’s long-term commitment to innovation and its role in helping the FIA connect cutting-edge motor sport technologies with real-world mobility solutions.

Driving ‘Track to Road’ Innovation

The FIA Sustainable Innovation Series serves as a collaborative platform that brings together manufacturers, governing bodies, technology leaders and sustainability experts. Its core objective is to accelerate innovation by translating high-performance motor sport developments into practical automotive and mobility applications through established ‘track to road’ pathways.

By participating in this initiative, Hankook will contribute its expertise in advanced materials, tyre performance optimisation and sustainable manufacturing processes. The partnership highlights the increasing importance of motor sport as a laboratory for responsible innovation, where extreme conditions and performance demands enable rapid technological progress with broader societal benefits.

Supporting FIA Championships With Technical Expertise

Hankook already plays a critical role within the FIA ecosystem as the exclusive technical partner and tyre supplier to both the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and the FIA World Rally Championships. In these series, tyres are not only a performance component but also a key factor in safety, durability and sustainability.

Through its involvement in electric racing and diverse rally environments, Hankook contributes to the FIA’s ambition to use motor sport as a testbed for future-focused mobility solutions. The company’s work supports the development of advanced compounds, improved energy efficiency, reduced environmental impact and enhanced safety standards, all of which are directly relevant to modern road vehicles.

FIA Leadership Welcomes the Partnership

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem welcomed Hankook’s appointment as a Global Partner, emphasising the strong alignment between the two organisations.

He highlighted that both the FIA and Hankook share a commitment to innovation, sustainability and safety, and noted that the partnership would strengthen ongoing efforts to make motor sport safer while also contributing to the evolution of global mobility systems.

Strengthening the Global Partner Programme

FIA Chief Commercial Officer Craig Edmondson underlined the importance of the expanding Global Partner Programme, which brings together leading international organisations committed to shaping the future of mobility.

According to Edmondson, Hankook’s experience and technological capabilities make it a valuable addition to the programme, helping accelerate progress toward a more sustainable, innovative and safety-driven mobility ecosystem that benefits both competitive motor sport and everyday transportation.

Hankook Highlights Responsible Technology Development

From Hankook’s perspective, the partnership reflects a long-term strategy centred on responsible technological advancement. Jongho Park, President and COO of Hankook Tire Europe, stated that the collaboration is built on a shared belief that innovation must balance performance with safety, fairness and environmental responsibility.

He emphasised that Hankook aims to apply its expertise in sustainable tyre development not only within elite motor sport but also across wider mobility applications, ensuring that technological progress delivers tangible benefits for society.
