STMicroelectronics Expands Capabilities of NB-IoT and Geolocation Module, Now Certified for Deutsche Telekom Networks

STMicroelectronics, a global leader in semiconductor solutions serving a broad range of electronic applications, has announced significant advancements in its ST87M01 NB-IoT and geolocation module. The module now includes enhanced functionalities and has successfully achieved full certification for operation on Deutsche Telekom (DT) networks, further strengthening its position in the European market.

Enhanced Features for Robust Connectivity and Geolocation

The ST87M01 is a state-of-the-art module designed to provide both NB-IoT connectivity and precise geolocation capabilities in a compact package. As an NB-IoT Release 15-certified module, it fully complies with the latest 3GPP standards and meets regional regulatory requirements, including the European Union’s Radio Equipment Directive (RED).

One of the key advancements in the ST87M01 is the integration of Wi-Fi positioning. This new capability enhances geolocation accuracy, especially in challenging environments such as indoor settings and dense urban areas where GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) signals may be weak or obstructed. By leveraging Wi-Fi access point data, the module can accurately determine its location even when traditional satellite-based positioning is unavailable.
