Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has announced the introduction of the Next Generation eCanter, an all-electric light-duty truck, into the Indian market. This move marks DICV’s entry into India’s battery electric commercial vehicle sector and signals its expansion into the light-duty truck segment. The eCanter is scheduled for release in the market within the next six to twelve months, signifying DICV’s initial step toward a broader vision of decarbonizing its product lineup in the long run.
Aligned with the Paris Climate Protection Agreement, Daimler Truck is dedicated to realizing CO2-neutral transportation to combat climate change. With a clear goal of reducing resource consumption and decarbonizing the transportation industry, Daimler Truck aims for its new trucks and buses to achieve CO2-neutrality in Europe, Japan, and the USA by 2039, followed by global neutrality by 2050. DICV is actively working on aligning its product portfolio with Daimler Truck’s global decarbonization strategy and aims to achieve carbon neutrality in India as swiftly as possible, following the footsteps of its key markets.
