Cebu Pacific, the Philippines’ leading low-cost airline, has finalized an order with Airbus for 70 A321neo aircraft, solidifying a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) announced in July. The purchase agreement was signed in Manila by Cebu Pacific CEO Mike Szucs and Airbus EVP Sales of Commercial Aircraft, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry.
Mike Szucs emphasized the importance of this purchase, stating, “The selection of the Airbus A321neo highlights our commitment to operational efficiency, sustainability, and innovation. This ensures we continue to provide top-tier service while significantly reducing our carbon footprint. This milestone demonstrates our dedication to making air travel more accessible and affordable, while supporting the Philippines’ broader goals of economic growth and connectivity.”
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry added, “The A320 Family has been instrumental in Cebu Pacific’s growth across domestic and short-haul international networks for over 20 years. We are thankful for the airline’s continued trust in our single-aisle aircraft. The A321neo’s exceptional economics, performance, and fuel efficiency make it an ideal choice. These additional aircraft will support Cebu Pacific’s next phase of expansion as a leading low-cost carrier in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Cebu Pacific currently operates a fleet of 61 A320 Family aircraft across its extensive regional network, along with nine A330 widebody aircraft for high-density routes, including destinations in the Middle East. With this latest order, the airline’s Airbus backlog now includes 94 A320neo Family aircraft and seven A330neo jets.
The A321neo, the largest in Airbus’ A320neo Family, offers unmatched range and performance. With new-generation engines and Sharklets, the A321neo provides a 50% noise reduction and over 20% savings in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to earlier single-aisle aircraft, while offering passengers the most comfortable single-aisle cabin in the sky.
To date, more than 6,500 A321neo aircraft have been ordered by over 90 customers worldwide.
