BWX Technologies has announced the appointment of Vittorio Puppo as president of BWXT Medical Ltd., effective August 12, 2024. In his new role, Puppo will focus on advancing the company’s mission to provide high-quality nuclear medical products and solutions aimed at improving patient outcomes globally.
Puppo brings over 30 years of experience in imaging, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, and biotech across Europe and North America. His recent roles include serving as the chief operating officer of Radiopharm Theranostics and holding various positions at Bracco, such as chief marketing and strategy officer of Bracco Imaging, president and CEO of Bracco Diagnostics Inc., interim head of Corporate Business Development, and global head of the Injectors Business Unit. Before Bracco, he held senior-level positions at Accuray, Covidien (now part of Medtronic), and Amersham (now part of GE Healthcare).
John MacQuarrie, president of BWXT commercial operations, expressed confidence in Puppo’s leadership, saying, “Vittorio’s extensive experience, strategic insight, and commitment to the medical manufacturing industry make him an ideal fit to lead our medical business into its next phase of growth and innovation. Puppo holds a degree in finance and economics and an MBA from the SDA Bocconi School of Management in Italy. He served as vice president of the European Association of Imaging Producers and Equipment Suppliers from 2004 to 2008 and has been a board member of the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance since 2021.
He succeeds Jonathan Cirtain, whose leadership has been pivotal to BWXT Medical’s success. Cirtain will return full-time to his role as BWXT’s chief development officer, continuing to support BWXT Medical and the company’s broader innovation goals.
