ASE’s ‘Guardians of the Sea’ Wins Gold at PwC Sustainability Impact Awards

Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, a subsidiary of ASE Technology Holding, has been awarded the prestigious Gold Award at the 2024 PwC Sustainability Impact Awards for its impactful marine conservation film, Guardians of the Sea. Produced by ASE’s Corporate Communications Team alongside the ASE Environmental Protection and Sustainability Foundation, the film showcases ASE’s commitment to marine conservation and environmental stewardship, impressing global judges with its creative storytelling on sustainability and social impact.

The PwC Sustainability Impact Awards, established in 2017, set the standard for sustainable innovation in Taiwan, inspired by the creativity of the Cannes Lions International Festival. These awards celebrate powerful storytelling with a social purpose, encouraging participants to align their projects with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) through compelling two-minute video narratives that address pressing global issues.

Guardians of the Sea centers on ASE’s efforts to restore marine ecosystems through partnerships with dive shops across Taiwan, mobilizing professional divers for ocean cleanups. Since its inception in 2021, ASE’s initiative has trained over 150 divers and conducted more than 140 cleanups involving over 1,700 participants. In addition to the cleanups, ASE has launched various educational programs, offering ecological conservation training to both employees and the public. The initiative has contributed to the restoration of 540 coral colonies and the cleaning of 270 coral reefs, aiding in the revitalization of fragile marine habitats.

This inspiring film underscores ASE’s dedication to the UN SDGs—specifically, SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Looking ahead, ASE plans to expand its conservation efforts, enhance marine conservation technology, and further educational outreach, aiming to protect marine environments and foster healthier oceans and cleaner beaches for future generations.
