AECOM, a globally trusted infrastructure consulting firm, has been appointed by Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) to provide asset management, design, site supervision, and project management services under its IF182 Professional Services Framework. AECOM will support projects from inception through to delivery, playing a key role in advancing NI Water’s ambitious capital programs aimed at delivering sustainable water and wastewater solutions.
Under the framework, AECOM has been appointed to two lots. As a Lot 1 supplier, AECOM will deliver civil and mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA) site supervision services. In Lot 3, AECOM will provide expertise in feasibility studies, design, project management, and climate change management services. This new appointment strengthens AECOM’s decades-long partnership with NI Water.
“We are excited to continue our collaboration with NI Water, bringing our global expertise and innovative technologies to support their environmental and customer objectives,” said Beverley Stinson, AECOM’s Global Water business chief executive. “Our local knowledge and experience in large-scale water infrastructure projects uniquely position us to deliver sustainable solutions for NI Water.”
Colin Wood, chief executive of AECOM’s Europe & India region, emphasized AECOM’s longstanding success with NI Water and other UK and Ireland water companies. “Our integrated, collaborative approach makes us a trusted partner in modernizing the region’s water infrastructure, including significant investments under the AMP8 program,” said Wood. “We are committed to ensuring safe and reliable water services while protecting the environment.”
NI Water supplies 605 million liters of drinking water and treats 362 million liters of wastewater daily. The IF182 Framework supports the company’s ongoing strategy for the remaining years of the PC21 price control period and into PC27, focusing on high-quality water delivery, environmental protection, and sustainable infrastructure development.
AECOM’s initial four-year appointment to the framework, with an option to extend by another four years, follows a long-standing relationship with NI Water. This includes significant projects such as the upgrades of the Kinnegar Wastewater Treatment Works and Sydenham Wastewater Pumping Station, both vital to NI Water’s £1.2 billion Living with Water Program.
