Mountain West Utility Trailer, Inc. Acquires Established Arizona Dealership

Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, LLC is pleased to announce that Mountain West Utility Trailer, Inc. has successfully acquired Utility Trailer Sales Company of Arizona. This strategic move strengthens Mountain West Utility Trailer’s presence in the southwestern United States and aligns with the broader industry trend of consolidation among trailer dealership groups.

Formation of Mountain West Utility Trailer, Inc.

Earlier this year, Mountain West Utility Trailer, Inc. was established as a newly formed dealer group when Utility Trailer Sales of Utah acquired Utility Trailer Sales of Idaho. This initiative was led by President & CEO Justin Deputy and his brother, Chief Sales Officer Spencer Deputy. Both executives previously played key roles at Utility Trailer Sales of Utah and bring extensive industry experience to their leadership positions.

The combined operations of Mountain West Utility Trailer initially encompassed locations in Salt Lake City and St. George, Utah; Las Vegas, Nevada; Boise and Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Spokane, Washington. With the latest expansion into Arizona, the company has now added state-of-the-art facilities in Tolleson, a key metropolitan area of Phoenix, and Tucson. This acquisition enables Mountain West Utility Trailer to broaden its footprint in the region while continuing to provide high-quality services to its growing customer base.

A Growing Trend of Consolidation in the Trailer Industry

The acquisition of Utility Trailer Sales Company of Arizona reflects a larger industry shift toward the formation of bigger dealership networks, which typically range between 8 to 12 locations. As freight operations increasingly run around the clock, dealerships are expected to offer comprehensive parts and service support on a continuous basis.

Steve Bennett, President & COO of Utility Trailer, emphasized the importance of modernizing dealer facilities and systems to remain competitive. “We are seeing a significant shift towards larger dealer groups, typically consisting of 8 to 12 locations, which has now become the standard,” he stated. “As freight operations run 24/7, it is crucial that both the Utility and Cargobull dealer networks are equipped to offer parts and service on a continuous basis. To meet these demands, it is essential that our facilities and dealer systems remain modern and utilize the latest technologies. By spreading the costs associated with these advancements across multiple locations, we significantly enhance the competitiveness of Utility dealers.”

Bennett also confirmed that Utility Trailer will continue making substantial investments in the coming years. These investments will help ensure that the company delivers exceptional service and support for its Utility and Cargobull products throughout North America.

Expanding Expertise and Capabilities

Mountain West Utility Trailer’s latest acquisition brings a wealth of expertise in transport refrigeration unit (TRU) technology to its network. With the expanded reach from western Washington down to Arizona, the company is positioned to serve an even more extensive customer base. “We are excited to add our southern neighbors to Mountain West Utility Trailer,” said Spencer Deputy. “With 8 locations stretching from western Washington to Arizona, we bring a high level of transport refrigeration unit expertise, which will strengthen our ability to serve our customers with the full line of Cargobull and Utility products.”

Utility Trailer Sales Company of Arizona, originally established in 1943, holds the distinction of being the longest continuously operating Utility dealership in the United States. Under the leadership of George Cravens, the dealership has experienced substantial growth, necessitating two facility relocations in Phoenix to accommodate its expanding operations. Cravens will continue to play a key role as part of Mountain West Utility Trailer’s management team.

Justin Deputy expressed enthusiasm about integrating the Arizona team into the Mountain West family. “We’re thrilled to welcome George and his staff to our team,” he said. “The addition of the Phoenix and Tucson locations will enable us to explore new opportunities and deliver greater value to our customers.”

Future Growth and Strategic Investments

Mountain West Utility Trailer is already implementing an aggressive expansion strategy to maximize the benefits of this acquisition. In the coming months, the company plans to:

  • Upgrade and modernize facilities to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Expand and update its fleet of mobile service trucks to better serve customers.
  • Increase trailer inventory to meet growing demand.
  • Hire and train additional technicians to strengthen service capabilities.

These initiatives are expected to drive significant growth and reinforce the company’s commitment to delivering top-tier support to its customer base.
