PPG Livery Set to Debut in NASCAR Cup Series and NTT IndyCar Series
PPG has announced that its vibrant and recognizable livery will be featured in two of the premier motorsports series during the 2025 season. The global coatings leader will serve as the primary sponsor for both the Wood Brothers Racing No. 21 Mustang at the Brickyard 400 presented by PPG and the Team Penske No. 2 Chevrolet in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. This marks a significant expansion of PPG’s longstanding presence in motorsports, further solidifying its partnership with some of racing’s most iconic teams and events.
PPG in NASCAR: The Brickyard 400
One of the most exciting highlights of PPG’s motorsports involvement in 2025 is its sponsorship of the Wood Brothers Racing No. 21 Ford Mustang at the Brickyard 400, scheduled for Sunday, July 27. The Brickyard 400, presented by PPG, remains one of the most prestigious events on the NASCAR Cup Series calendar, and having the PPG livery on track at this historic venue is a significant milestone for the brand.
Josh Berry, a rising star in the NASCAR Cup Series, will pilot the PPG Ford Mustang at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Berry, who has earned respect for his driving prowess and dedication to the sport, will showcase PPG’s dynamic and colorful branding as he competes on one of the most legendary circuits in racing history.
Wood Brothers Racing, which celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2025, is the oldest active team in NASCAR, making the diamond anniversary season a historic occasion for the legendary team. The organization has a technical alliance with Team Penske, a longstanding partner of PPG.
“PPG has a long history in motorsports, and we’re excited to become a part of that this year at one of the most special venues in all of racing,” said Jon Wood, president of Wood Brothers Racing. “PPG’s colors have been a fixture on the track for years, and we’re proud to showcase them on the No. 21 Ford Mustang at Indianapolis. It’s always fun to work with a company that shares such a passion for racing, and we’re looking forward to a great weekend together.”
PPG’s involvement in NASCAR extends beyond the Wood Brothers Racing partnership. The company will also return as an associate sponsor for Team Penske’s NASCAR Cup Series entries, including the No. 2 Ford Mustang driven by Austin Cindric, the No. 12 Ford Mustang piloted by 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Ryan Blaney, and the No. 22 Ford Mustang driven by defending and three-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Joey Logano.
“It is an honor to have the PPG livery on the Wood Brothers’ Mustang at the Brickyard as the team celebrates its 75th anniversary,” said Bill Shaw, PPG’s global business director, strategic initiatives, Automotive Refinish. “It is a historic team with close ties to our longtime partners at Team Penske, and we can’t wait to see what Josh does behind the wheel of the PPG car.”
PPG in INDYCAR: Sponsorship of Team Penske
PPG will continue its longstanding partnership with Team Penske in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, serving as the primary sponsor of the No. 2 PPG Chevrolet driven by defending Indianapolis 500 winner and two-time INDYCAR Series Champion Josef Newgarden. The striking PPG livery will be featured in seven races throughout the 2025 season, further strengthening the bond between PPG and one of the most successful teams in motorsports history.
The races where the No. 2 PPG Chevrolet will be the primary sponsor include:
- Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg (March 2) – St. Petersburg, Fla.
- The Thermal Club INDYCAR Grand Prix (March 23) – Thermal, Calif.
- Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix (May 4) – Birmingham, Ala.
- Bommarito Automotive Group 500 (June 15) – Madison, Ill.
- Road America (June 22) – Elkhart Lake, Wis.
- Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio (July 6) – Lexington, Ohio
- Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto (July 20) – Toronto, ON, Canada
Newgarden expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “The PPG car is a fan favorite in INDYCAR. Soon, NASCAR fans will get to enjoy it as well. Josh and I have known each other for a long time and actually went to middle school together. To now both be sponsored by PPG is pretty surreal. It’s exciting how things have turned out for two kids from Hendersonville, TN.”
In addition to Newgarden’s No. 2 Chevrolet, PPG will continue its role as an associate sponsor for two other Team Penske INDYCAR entries: the No. 12 Chevrolet driven by two-time INDYCAR Series Champion Will Power and the No. 3 Chevrolet piloted by Scott McLaughlin. With this sponsorship lineup, PPG maintains a strong presence in one of the most competitive and prestigious open-wheel racing series in the world.
