Cintas Joplin Location Receives OSHA VPP Star Certification for Excellence in Workplace Safety
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has awarded Cintas Corporation’s (Nasdaq: CTAS) Joplin, Missouri Rental Division location with the prestigious Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star certification. This recognition is reserved for workplaces that excel in implementing effective and thorough health and safety management systems.
The VPP Star certification acknowledges worksites that not only meet but exceed national safety standards. To achieve this designation, Cintas Joplin maintained injury and illness rates below the national average for its industry while developing comprehensive hazard control programs, conducting detailed jobsite analyses, and fostering management and employee collaboration to prioritize safety. The certification process itself is rigorous, requiring companies to demonstrate continuous improvement and proactive measures to prevent workplace incidents.
Brent Witthuhn, Manager of the Joplin location, accepted the award on behalf of the team, expressing gratitude for the dedication of Cintas’ employee-partners. “We’re truly honored to achieve this recognition,” Witthuhn said. “This accomplishment wouldn’t be possible without the commitment and care our team members have for each other. Earning VPP certification reflects an ongoing commitment to safety, and we are committed to continuously enhancing our culture of safety.”
The VPP Star certification is OSHA’s official acknowledgment of organizations that go above and beyond in occupational health and safety. Cintas’ commitment to the program is unmatched, with 131 of its facilities across the U.S. achieving VPP Star status as of August 2024—a record that places Cintas among the leaders in workplace safety nationwide.
Stephen Jenkins, Cintas Vice President of Health & Safety, highlighted the company’s commitment to safety as a team effort. “Earning VPP certification requires a collaborative approach with a common goal of eliminating workplace injuries,” said Jenkins. “Our positive discontent drives us to continually improve, and this latest certification demonstrates our employee-partners’ unwavering dedication to safe and healthy workplaces.”
OSHA’s VPP Star program, which requires regular re-evaluation every three to five years, is designed to encourage best practices in safety management across both private and government sectors. Cintas’ dedication to these rigorous standards has set a new benchmark, reflecting the company’s commitment to workplace safety and health leadership across the U.S.
